Came by early last night only to find the door locked and a sign up on the wall from the owners Punch Taverns inviting applications from anyone interested in running the pub.

Visited this "country pub in the city" last night as we were looking for a "quiet" pub to have a nice drink and a chat. The music was blaring, beer awful and the locals hammered. Why is it so hard to find a decent pub in Plymouth?....

My friends and I used to come here often as students for their Sunday roasts. They were always big portions and very tasty! It's a proper old pub run by friendly staff. Recommend if you just want some pub grub and a pint or two!

The folk who run this place try hard but are set about by conditions imposed by environmental health or the licencing committee. Apparently a single senior adjacent resident has managed to neuter many of the pubs activities in the cause of noise restrictions in this inner city predominantly student area. There is live music for a couple of hours 9-11... More

What an amazing pub. The landlord was fantastic. He was very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was to much trouble for him to make your visit comfortable. The beer and wine was cheap and excellent. Where can you go and have a good quality wine for £6 per bottle. Bottle of port £12 and her even did Stilton cheese and crusty... More

I came along with my family to have a meal together and a few drinks. After lunch we used the pool table. The manager came out from the kitchen and told us to stop laughing as he couldn't hear his Classic FM.

As the slogan describes, the Woodside encapsulates a very strong feeling of an old local, expected in the rolling hills of rural Devon. Inside is reasonably clean, nothing out of the ordinary for a traditional pub (think cleaner than a Wetherspoons, but not a PizzaExpress). What truly makes this pub one of my local favourites is the people. The bar... More

Oh dear. This place used to be friendly a few years ago however, last night was a different story. The bar man was surly, the manageress was disinterested and the two drunk regulars at the bar clearly took a dislike to us (one must assume due to the fact that we were the only other people in there) so, before...
