Another good evening spent with friends. Every meal we had was to a very good standard and my steak was best for some time. Although the place was packed (best to book before visiting) nothing was a problem and all went well. Many places in Plymouth that are full struggle to make things happen without hassles many lessons could be... More

Went to the ship for not the first time and , again was not disappointed . Blue cheese starter was different and quite subtle along with the scotch egg which was eagerly despatched . The fillet steak was possibly the best my wife has ever had out, and that's a big call !! My belly pork was good and was... More

My Mum had eaten here before and raved about it, so I don;t know what went wrong, but... When we arrived (we had booked) we were not seated where we had asked for when we booked. Anyway, not the end of the world. Waited forever to get menu, ditto for drinks order, then to order (the first girl we asked... More

Having viewed the website and menus, I booked a table for 6 people as a start to their pearl wedding anniversary celebrations and recovery from serious illness. The website showed a 2 course menu at £12.95. Once seated, it took some considerable time before a member of staff came over to our table and even longer to get a drink.... More

2 coupls had a Friday night supper, Good, small choice of fresh local food, not pages of plastic covered menu with microwaved items. Food, service, ambience were excellent, I would happily recommed

We have been recommending this pub restaurant to friends and visitors ever since we moved to Devon. Wow - our latest meal was just wonderful. A friendly welcome as ever and delicious whitebait and truly scrummy pate to start. Steak cooked perfectly -medium rare and spot on ( thank you, chef) and gorgeous hake -well-seasoned and again cooked to perfection... More

Four of us visited this restaurant in May after hearing good reviews. First issue was the service, when we arrived someone behind the bar handed us our menus and pointed to the table that had been reserved for us. For the price of the food, I would expect to be shown to our table and seated. The restaurant itself is... More

I have reviewed this place before and in general they are the same, as over twenty years, the quality has NEVER changed. The only change is the menu and in all that time it has had the same owner and for a great deal of that time they have had the same chef. The food is quite simply good. It... More

We had excellent cooked food last week with friendly service on a Sunday night. The food was well presented and a good selection of vegetables came with the meal.
