Popped in here for the first time and know this will now be a favourite place to come, unfortunately we had eaten before we came, but have already booked to come back for a roast next month on the 7th, and can't wait. The pub is enchanting, the atmosphere very friendly as are the staff. The best bit for me... More

A nice friendly pub & a excellent tasty Sunday roast - would recommend it to all. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and dogs are welcomed (also a huge bonus). Lunch was reasonably price £6.95 for a "small" plate & £8.95 for a "large" plate; had the small plate and couldn't finish it (so a large plate must be really large!) Dessert... More

A fantastic pub just off the main Barbican but definitely worth the extra few steps. A great selection of drinks and a really friendly environment. Love the new popcorn machine.

Friendly staff, nice decor and great food. The Lamb was excellent, the pie was outstanding, and the chips are very well done here. Not easily accessible, but certainly worth the effort.

We ate here twice whilst in Plymouth. Does are allowed in and they even have a doggy menu. Our dog doesn't eat when away from home but he woofed his meal down both times! The people food wasn't bad either. Make sure you are hungry before ordering your meal though.

Thank you so much Ann. We are delighted that we helped your dogs to find their appetite again. And thank you for your kind comments regarding the human food and large portions. We look forward to seeing you again soon. More

We went as a group of Six Family Members to celebrate our upcoming move away. We had booked and the Table was ready and waiting when we arrived. We all had Three Courses from the Menu & Specials and Wine / Beer to help wash it all down and finished off an enjoyable evening with Coffees. The food was -... More

Thank you Brianngog. We are so pleased you enjoyed your celebratory night (although we might not celebrate so much). Glad the pub was busy but that service remained as good as usual. Thank you for the reccomendation. We hope to see you again on a trip back to Plymouth. More

Must have been a bad night because food was terrible and welcome not much better. We were put in a dimly lit area away from everyone so there was no ambience what so ever. We had curry and rice and fish and chips and both were bad. The curry consisted of a big bowl of rice with 3 small pieces... More

Wasn't busy in the pub, the menu was extensive, with an added specials board. My lady friend had the lamb shank with veg and flavoured mash ( think it was rosemary), she said it was delicious. I had sirloin steak, it was cooked well, but had a bit too much fat on it (but that can happen). Will come again,... More

A sweet little pub with real atmosphere. We would eat there when it was less busy. It is tucked away from the main tourist Barbican up a hill. Parking after 6 pm is free at nearby Citadel...and walk down

Hi and thank you Paddington18. We really appreciate your review and great tip about the free parking. It's all free after 6pm, you can park above us and walk down or park just as you exit the main Barbican streets and then walk up the path or the steps. Great tip! We hope to see you soon. More

Dear Whitty, We are so pleased that you persevered and found us. We like to think that although we're hidden, we're only moments from the excitement of the Barbican but are also able to offer our own oasis and atmosphere of a village pub. We are really pleased you enjoyed our food, beers and most importantly our excellent staff. We... More

Description
Pleasantly situated overlooking the Barbican, the Fishermans Arms is a country pub located in the middle of Britain's Ocean City. Real ales, a warm and friendly atmosphere and excellent food. The food is good quality and great value. Reputedly the second oldest pub in Plymouth (grade 2 listed), we are steeped in history and have one of the last surviving remnants of the original Plymouth Castle.
