I had a cream cheese and cucumber sandwich with a tea and it hit the spot. My wife and daughter tried the scones which they said were very nice. Very pleasant view from front of cafe.

This little cafe was a blessing in a time of need. My partner and I had a terrible night camping this night before with a storm leaving us with no sleep. We came to this friendly little cafe and had the best pot of tea I had all holiday! The full English we had was second to none, it came... More

which means it is not so crowded. It felt good to support this quiet place especially as nothing was too much trouble. Our dietary requirements were heard and met. The building itself is a little tired and outdated, but clean and light. We will return.

Arrived in Lynton and went straight into well positioned restaurant near, but not too close, to car park. Received a warm welcome and provided with good food, which was well cooked and a reasonable price. Would highly recommend eating here.

Husband's crumble was fine but not enough custard for him. I had the cream tea. I was told that the scones were fresh but the tops of them were hard and crusty, more like a rock cake, and not like any scone I have had before. The fruit scone was a bit stodgy inside. I didn't find any trace of... More

I have decided to reply to your review on Lily Mays cafe. First of all your comment about poorly wrapped food in the window,I would like to point out that this food is for display purposes only and not for human consumption.

I would also like to mention that Lynton is a very dog friendly town and when we are quiet I allow dogs into the cafe as long as they behave and don't disrupt other customers and yes I had a conversation with them about their dogs and yes Ii brought my dog out to see them but I had changed out my whites and was taking a break. After which I washed my hands as I always do before handling foods of any kind....our living quarters are next to the kitchen so at no time do I allow my dog or any animals into the kitchen area. The only reason I introduced my dog to your wife was because she was practically hanging off the chair looking at him with glee after all he is a little cutie.

Your comment about the food was rather strange because when I asked if you enjoyed the food your reply was yes and you certainly ate it all except for a small portion of quiche but it was a large serving.

Yes i agree with your comment about the carpet but as you mentioned we are new to the cafe and are doing what we can a bit at a time,we are a small family run business and are learning as we go but really Martin L you should get your facts right before you have a go at good hard working folks who are trying to earn an honest living.....but I'm glad you came into my cafe at least you were leaving someone else alone........thank you lily mays.....
