On a cold but sunny day a visit to the Castle via a delightful diversion to Fingle Bridge was an afternoon well spent. Whilst the Castle is undergoing major works and is encased in scaffolding and shrouded in white canvas there is more than enough to see and make it an interesting visit. The massive granite blocks in various states... More

After walking for a couple of hours, we decided to stop for lunch in the cafe, luckily we found a table inside, and 3 of my party chose the light lunch of venison burger and I had chicken and mixed vegetable hotpot, very reasonably priced and the dishes were very tasty. The venison burger is sourced locally and the chef... More

Very disappointing behind the scenes tour of the castle - very little to see due to building work and guide's talk contained a number of inaccuracies. Poor value for money. Not v happy with cafe meal. Unpleasant rancid tasting bowl of soup. Overall a disappointing trip.

I took my 9 yr old son today for a visit, most of the scaffolding is down from the south side, we toured the house but unfortunately everything is still covered so hard to visualise what some rooms would look like but the guides are very helpful and informative, another visit next year for the house I think, the gardens... If you don't mind paying NT prices there are plenty of tasty treats on offer. The cafe is clean and the staff very friendly. In good weather there is seating outside.

I really loved the food in this cafe and it was well presented. Priced as expected for a NT property. You need to time your visit well though as the service was a bit slow but there were plenty of seats though if it rains there could be a problem as a lot of the seating area is outside. The... More

We had not visited Castle Drogo for ten years and wanted to see how the renovation project was getting along. We visited early one morning and walked down to the castle through the lovely gardens. We had a chat to one of the gardeners who was knowledgeable and welcoming. Not much work appeared to be in progress at the castle,... More

We often come here as we live locally and it's a great place to have coffee or lunch after a good walk, the staff are always friendly and the food well cooked ! I had a great vegetable tagine with the best gluten free roll I've ever eaten! Their jacket potatoes are always good with generous fillings! My husband loves... More

Whilst not a true castle, this is well worth a vist. The setting is stunning, and it is well worth walking down into the valley. The staff were particularly good, all taking a delight in sharing their love for the place.
