Visited having heard good revues and were not disappointed. Had a beautifully cooked three course meal with lovely local english wine and the portions were more than ample. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion as while it was pleasantly busy the other diners were not in any way intrusive.

We ate here after having been recommended by some friends who had been raving about it. We weren't disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent, offering good fresh local ingredients cooked perfectly. The menu is varied but not to big, which I prefer. The wine list was also excellent and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We last visited The Conservatory a couple of years ago and enjoyed the experience and more recently friends have said they've had good food there too. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it this time. Our starters of mackerel tart were ok and my wife's main of hake she said was fine, but I opted for chicken which turned out to be... More

This is the sort of good quality restaurant of which all French towns of any size (and many small villages) can boast. They are getting more plentiful in the UK and Exeter is lucky to have this one. It provides well cooked and interesting dishes using fresh (mainly local) ingredients. The menu is varied, but the sea food is particularly... More

This is a surprisingly light and airy restaurant with amazing Tudor panels. We had the special lunchtime menu which is 2 courses for £9.95, which was excellent value- well cooked and served with a smile. There were 3 choices for each starter and main. Our waitress was so pleasant and helpful and the food arrived at just the right pace.... More

I used to live above The Conservatory and since moving away I have not come to terms with it not being on my doorstep. Tucked away on one of Exeter's oldest walkways the whole area oozes history and story's, however one can simple walk past both the history and The Conservatory without much thought. Well I am here to say... More

As a large family party we were given a table downstairs in a private area (so no difficult background noise for older members) & looked after extremely well, in spite of it being Graduation week & a busy time. The food was excellent, ( the portions were a little large for me, but others had no problem) & presented beautifully.

Visited Exeter for a long weekend and found this quite well recommended on Tripadvisor so thought we'd give it a try. First impressions were a bit apprehensive from the unusually quiet atmosphere in the restaurant for a Friday evening but OMG I cannot fault a single thing about the food! My favourite was the confit duck bon bon starter but... More

My partner and I ate here as we visit Exeter regularly and try to visit different restaurants which are rated on Trip Advisor. Cute little restaurant, which is very deceiving from the outside, nicely decorated, I presume from the smell of paint had recently been done (the smell of paint is not a criticism) My partner had scollops and black... For a taste of the Mediterranean without leaving the West Country look no further than Exeter’s The Conservatory. With huge windows obscured by white blinds, tall exotic plants and Swedish-meets-French countryside painted furniture you almost feel it would be a shame to call in after sunset. But come in for dinner and you’ll find yourself in an intimate and romantic setting perfect for that relaxed dinner to help you forget about bills, work and worries. Sail away on a culinary cruise through Europe as the menu takes you from Britain via France and in to Italy and beyond with plenty of local ingredients to keep the flavours fresh and delicious.
