First, a couple of negatives : if you're wheelchair bound, the only way in is via the alleyway through Mary Arches car park, to their back door. There are a few tables on that level, all others are either up or down steps and they have no ramp. BOOK IN ADVANCE! The other point is very minor. Guys, "shabby chic"... More

From a varied and interesting menu we chose fish, from St Ives-- fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented. A long, leisurely 3 course meal-- excellent but discreet service.Every dish was reasonably priced.I will eat there again.

Boy this was a surprise. From the outside could be a bric a brac shop rather than a very pleasant restaurant. Very nice casual and somehow very relaxing feel inside. Great quality food, excellent service and the chef responds to dietary requirements with the kind of flexibility I wish happened more often. Looking forward to a second visit.

Just had a dinner for four with girl friends here. We went for the early bird menu which can be ordered until 6.45pm. This is a smaller version (in choice not sixe of portions) of the main menu. One of us is vegetarian and was delighted at the options. After ordering we were brought home made bread and olives to... More

Have been meaning to come here for ages. Visited for the first time recently and it was really really good. The restaurant is a light airy quirky space. The staff are all friendly. The choice of food is wide and I would probably eat everything on the menu. Chose fig and Devon blue cheese galette and it was a warm... More

It's an odd space down then up a flight of steps into a series of rooms underneath a glass conservatory roof whose curtains just conceal the fact the glass needs cleaning. A slightly musty sensation on arrival is soon concealed by fishy smells from the kitchen. Lunch is the time to appreciate much of the menu at a reduced price... More

Visited having heard good revues and were not disappointed. Had a beautifully cooked three course meal with lovely local english wine and the portions were more than ample. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion as while it was pleasantly busy the other diners were not in any way intrusive.

We ate here after having been recommended by some friends who had been raving about it. We weren't disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent, offering good fresh local ingredients cooked perfectly. The menu is varied but not to big, which I prefer. The wine list was also excellent and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We last visited The Conservatory a couple of years ago and enjoyed the experience and more recently friends have said they've had good food there too. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it this time. Our starters of mackerel tart were ok and my wife's main of hake she said was fine, but I opted for chicken which turned out to be... More

For a taste of the Mediterranean without leaving the West Country look no further than Exeter’s The Conservatory. With huge windows obscured by white blinds, tall exotic plants and Swedish-meets-French countryside painted furniture you almost feel it would be a shame to call in after sunset. But come in for dinner and you’ll find yourself in an intimate and romantic setting perfect for that relaxed dinner to help you forget about bills, work and worries. Sail away on a culinary cruise through Europe as the menu takes you from Britain via France and in to Italy and beyond with plenty of local ingredients to keep the flavours fresh and delicious.
