We visited St Ives on a busy August evening without a reservation. Luckily for us, we enquired at the Black Rock and they could fit us in within the hour. Meal was really excellent, the best of our visit to Devon and Cornwall this year. Not the usual burger and chips, more fine dining but not significantly more expensive, paid... More

A second visit to this great little restaurant. Lovely staff. The menu is varied and interesting and all four of us enjoyed wonderful food. My husband's fish was just a little dry on this occasion but all in all this is an excellent place to eat.

Best meal out I've had in ages. I had the Crab Breton, a ribeye steak and the chocolate tart. All amazing. Really nice staff too.

Restaurant had a very nice relaxed feel about and the staff were very welcoming. I had Crab Breton to start (very nice) and mussels off the specials board (also very nice) then to the problem. I believe it was called a cheeseboard, although the main focus of the dish seemed to be focussed on something resembling 2 slabs of fruitcake... More

We booked for a Friday dinner based on reading some reviews and were hugely impressed. It's not a huge place so feels intimate without being on top of other diners. Informal but very efficient and friendly staff certainly added to the occasion. And then the food. Wow, wonderful fresh produce simply but beautifully cooked and presented. Mackerel starter and Hake... More

This is the best restaurant in St Ives in our opinion. The service was excellent and the food was gorgeous. The steak was the best steak tasted in a long while and the mussels were lovely. This place is working really hard to deliver unlike some restaurants in the area that have become over priced and complacent. We have booked... More

St Ives is now a very busy holiday destination so it was lovely to find The Black Rock in one of the side streets. You need to book in high season - the food is excellent and there's a nice ambience. Particularly recommend the Crab Breton starter.

Visited this wee gem on a Wednesday night in July. The place was quite busy but we got a table pretty quick. The food was great, burgers steaks and some fresh fish dishes. There was an open mic night so a lot of musicians there ready to rock their stuff. They also allow people to bring their dogs with them... More

Outstanding fresh food! We each enjoyed three courses plus wine: all excellent! The interior is very nice and the tables are comfortably spaced. Service was very good as well.

Excellent meal. Although the menu was short, there was enough choice . Locally sourced ingredients...focus on fish. Good unobtrusive but attentive service in a nice environment.
