Visited a couple of times over the august Bank holiday for family evening meals. Good service and very enjoyable food.

Early evening visitor meant a few spare tables. You should book as it gets very busy, recommended by a local taxi company.

Had food here one evening, arrived about 8-30 pm, plenty of seats inside and outside. Plenty of choice on the menu. The only negative comment would be my child's desert was the nicest, but our mains were lovely.

I visited over the bank august bank holiday. I ordered food with a group of friends. There was a 45 minute wait on food which we didn't mind. Most the table are reserved so you'll be lucky to find a table. I had ordered cheesey chips and gravy. My friends steaks came out and my gravy also arrived but i... More

13th annual family holiday to newquay. We have visited the mermaid inn several times a year every year. The last few years have seen it change from a really nice traditional pub serving great food to what is now little better than a beach cafe. Tables are crammed in and its dirty. I gave the mermaid a poor review last... More

It was a beautiful pub when we first started coming to Cornwall. However the last 3 years the standards have dropped. Today we waited 90 minutes for our meals and 2 didn't come until 1 of us had finished. The toilets are a mess the ladies sinks don't work and we spotted one of the waitresses using them! Where did... This place is always busy being directly on the beach at Porth. Recommend booking a table to guarantee getting fed. We ate here twice and both times the food came hot and was very tasty. Good choice of real ales and ciders. Restaurant gets very warm. Seating are outside under pergolas to enjot a glass of wine in evening

Huge portions - honest food, nothing fancy. We ate there for lunch and dinner with our 7-year-old. Busy place, so advisable to book ahead for dinner. Friendly service. But by the evening, two of the beers were no longer available, and neither was the fudge sundae on the kids menu.

A very busy pub an it is not easy to get a seat but it is worth it when you do. We had the best Steak Pie we have ever eaten, it was full of tender steak with at least 16 chunks of steak, the chilli is hot but good.
