Everyone said that the Upstairs at the Grill was the best in Chester and now I know why. You’re directed upstairs to the bar to have a drink and review the menu with a staff member. After your drink and close to when your meal will be ready, you’re brought down to the dining room and dinner service begins. The... More

The hotel concierge raved about this place, and it took 2 days to get a reservation. Sadly, it wasn't a "wow" dinner. Filet Mignon should never be dry or stringy - the cow's family has my condolences, but she apparently lived a very long and active life, and it was well past her time to go. A bit on the... More

The grill restaurant is upstairs, and you first enter a small bar area with comfy seats. The tables are dotted around, many with bar-stool height seats. The restaurant and bar staff appear very keen to serve you but at their own pace and with their own hymn sheets. The steaks we had were nicely cooked and tender, but the chateaubriand... More

After reading the other reviews, I feel as if we went somewhere different to what other people were reviewing!. The restaurant was average at best. The steaks are ok, however not outstanding. There is a good choice of starters and a small selection of desserts. The service is slow, the staff however are friendly. The restaurant is easy to find,... More

What a place. It starts with a very warm welcome from very knowledgeable staff. You are then taken up to the bar, if you like gin or whiskey you will be a very happy person. Then a staff member talks you through the menu. Now we come to the food, great does not do it justice. I have eaten in... More

If you want to be highly embarrassed, do not take important customers to this restaurant. Took over 40 mins to deliver the first round of drinks at the bar! How bad is that?? Delivered a warm bottle of white wine, and then took another 15 mins to replace it with a chilled one. Service was non-existent. We had booked private... More

Right from the moment we walked in the restaurant, we were welcomed by friendly staff and shown through the room, with all its fancy decor and beautiful chairs. The food was excellent and service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend! It was the first time we had dined here.

Visted as a family of three, my wife rated her meal and overall experience as maybe the nicest she's ever had. Great steaks, great sides, small, intimate. Great for families, great for guys/gals to say sorry, great for first dates, great, great, great!

We went here for Sunday lunch yesterday and we will definitely be going back next time we are in Chester. The food is top quality. We both opted for roast beef which was cooked to perfection, we both like it pink but not bloody. The portions are large enough for even the biggest appetite. The customer service here is top...
