My wife and I decided to try Rio when we heard it had replaced it's previous incarnation of Tomahawk Steakhouse (part of the same group). We were not expecting too much as our experience visiting Tomahawk, while nice, didn't overly impress - particularly with the service. What a very pleasant surprise we experienced at Rio! The staff were cheerful, friendly and the right level of attentive. The food was fantastic, an excellent layout for the "salad" counter with a large selection of different dishes to supplement the variety of meats that were sliced at the table. In addition, fries, peppercorn sauce were brought to the table and would be replenished on request.
Wine was reasonably priced and decanted on request (as red wine lovers we see that as a big plus), and the manager, who spent time chatting with us, was very knowledgeable about the wines on their list. We had a red at the lower price range which was very enjoyable (we like wine but are definitely not connoisseurs!).
We had the lunchtime meat selections (slightly abbreviated from the evening menu) and each cut was perfectly cooked and delicious. It was at least on par with another well known Brazilian restaurant chain but I personally believe it was better. Having experience at this style of restaurant we knew to pace ourselves, taking time and, after the initial sampling of all the cuts on offer, being selective by having our favourites. We were asked on several occasions what our preferred meats were (picanha, lamb and the sausages) which were soon brought to the table.
Considering the food on offer and the great service it was extremely good value, congratulations to the manager for having a great team who were focussed on delivering a great dining experience. We will definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

This place is so different from anywhere else we’ve been in Chester, it’s fab! The staff were so lovely, I think the gentleman who seated us was the manager and he had us nearly in tears with Laughter!! We then we’re given the delicious Brazilian cheese rolls and some chips ! We went to the salad bar/buffet however I would limit the amount you get here so you don’t fill up and can enjoy your meat. I would even recommend waiting to go to just add sides to your plate once they’ve brought the meat around. The lamb and chicken were fantastic, the sausages and beef were all delicious too! We brought three children with us and they all loved it too, and it’s fab that children under 5 eat free! Will definitely be back!

Having never been to this restaurant I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The service is top class (we were looked after by the excellent Evie) and the general vibe was chilled and welcoming. It's essentially an 'all you can eat' establishment, but this description doesn't do it justice. The salad has a great selection of antipasti with salamis, cheeses and vegetables, but the real USB of Rio is the range of cooked meats. Waiters regularly visit your table to distribute steak, pork, chicken and lamb, in various interesting guises, both traditional and contemporary (chicken hearts was a new one for me!). Overall, a very pleasant experience. The price of £40 a head is not cheap and it's probably best to visit on an empty stomach!

This is our second time here and we came back to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our server was Ben, it was disappointing because our cocktails came way after our wine was served. We were already eating meat and had our cocktails served one after the other,seems to me he forgot about it. My husband ordered a negroni, I ordered a watermelon cooler, I didn't like it, it was overflowing with ice, when I took off the straw, it just all fell off the table. The wine was an absolute divine, perfect match for our steak. Nico, the meat cutter is our favourite, he already knows our kind of meat, he took care of us and he is such a lovely server. We were ready to order our dessert, but had to ask for the menu, nobody asked if we're interested to order one.. Finally, Ben handed it to me but had to wait again to order it, so I changed my mind and not order it anymore because it was almost time for us to leave the table, we were booked only until 9pm. I was looking forward for the triple chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream as it is by fave. When I asked for the bill, it was very quick!I wish it was that quick with our cocktails and dessert menu. Thanks for the happy birthday plate with ice cream, as requested when I booked and inform that it was my husband's birthday. If it wasn't for Nico, it should have been 2 stars for the service.

Can't fault the Food, Service, atmosphere. I am a ceoliac so struggle to eat out confidently but as soon as I walked In I was asked about allergies, I was given a A4 sheet of paper and my allergies were marked, this was put on my table so any staff member could see and knew not to serve me anything with gluten, the salad bar selection was clearly marked with allergies and I was advised to take the tongues from my table up to avoid any cross contamination. There was gluten free chips and amazing cheesy bread bites that were brought to the table, included in the cost and you could ask for more. The meats were beautiful and you were not rushed to eat your meal you could pace yourself.
Can't wait to go again wish we had one were I live.

I live in Essex, but used to live up here. We visited this restaurant a few years ago on my birthday and it was excellent. Back up today, for the Open Golf tomorrow and thought we’d treat ourselves. Overall felt the meat served was quite tough and not tender. My wife asked for well done meat, when initially asked for preferences, but was continually served medium cooked meat. Eventually after pointing out the cooked meat requirement she got the right meat. To be honest at that stage we just thought we’d pay the bill, if somewhat slightly disappointed. Then as we’re waiting for the bill, 2 drinks are delivered to our table, which we assumed are complimentary as many restaurants do. We both took photos of them as they were quite impressive and then a minute or so later were told they were delivered to the wrong table. I fed my comments back as we left the restaurant and got no response, so am not posting this behind their backs.

Having visited many rodizio restaurants in the UK, I am quite happy to recommend people come and visit Rio Brazilian as although it is a new restaurant they have already high standards in delivering a quality rodizio experience.
When visiting a rodizio the best way is to have small regular servings that are freshly cut so by having the passador regularly visiting with the meat is the best experience, thankfully unlike some other rodizio restaurants that we have been to Rio seems to have everything mastered with fresh meat coming regularly.
The pricing is also very competitively priced for the quality of the food and service received

This restaurant definitely lives up to it's no.1 spot for Chester. Your are greeted with a warm welcome and the experience is described to you. You then proceed to the salad bar where you can help yourself to a plentiful selection including hot options like delicious garlic mushrooms. Fries and peppercorn sauce are placed on your table. Then you use your red and green bull card to control when the waiters come and offer you various different meats. If you want to try them all then make sure you're careful on how much of the salad bar you take!
The cuts of meat are delicious and plentiful, there are vegetarian and pescetarian options but we didn't try those. The ribeye and the lamb were particularly delicious, also the fillet steak.
The atmosphere was great too and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We were surprised to see so many (well behaved) children there but we saw that they offer a reduced price for children that was really reasonable. Drinks were a little expensive but kind of what you'd expect I think.
Our meal ended with being presented with ice-cream and a birthday wish, which was a lovely touch that made us smile. All in all, a lovely restaurant we recommend and would go again if the opportunity arose.

The food itself is not bad, a bit pricey, but a good variety if you're a meat lover.
What I absolutely do not like and shouldn't be happening is charging your customer for water you are passing off as bottled when it was 100% tap water. You do the same trick a lot of restaurants do, serve your water in spring water bottles that are already opened or you pretend to open at the table. But these are bottles you have filled with tap water. I only drink bottled water and you can taste and smell tap water a mile off. I pointed out after 1 sip to the waiter it was tap water and we didn't want it. Someone, who I presume is a manager came over and tried to tell me it wasn't tap water and that the bottles are refilled from a barrel!
So why are you refilling them? If you are charging for bottles of water, then you should be selling a sealed bottle not refilling them from a barrel (tap). I'm sure if you got caught doing this by environmental health they'd have something to say about it as they should be sterilised if the seal is broken.

We would firstly like to let you know that this does not sound like the Rio experience that so many of our guests have come to know and love and this is why we are rated number 1 just after some days of opening.
For sure you have not truly visited the restaurant at all which is a shame because you would love the food, the service and the atmosphere. We are a very serious company and this is why we care so much about our food, service, and our loved guests.
Additionally, we find it suspicious that someone would take to TripAdvisor to write such a thing. We do not charge for tap water, and if you order still water it is sold in a sealed bottle for sure, from BELU, to be more specific. I can assure our guests know what they are paying for. As I said, you are missing out the best meal you would have in town.
In future if you do have a very negative experience in a restaurant, I encourage you to visit the place first and take more time to construct your feedback.

Booked on the last minute for lunch
Service was fantastic… thumbs up to our server Ben, however all the staff and “ meat servers” could not of been more friendly
Ben must wish the introduction to the concept and recommendations re not eating too much salad was on a tape…however he made us feel like his first guests..
Salad bar was very varied , from salads to hot dishes and all was very fresh.
Lunchtime selection of meats was excellent and all served medium rare, Wife liked the Brazilian Rump Steak and Lamb…I enjoyed that too plus the Gammon and Pineapple!
We were never rushed …and enjoyed our lunch a lot.
We joked with the serving staff…if anyone actually ordered desert…which we did not as the main offering was more than sufficient…in fact…great value!
Wines too were not overpriced and we liked the choice of Wines which were related to the Brazilian theme of the restaurant…recommended wines were at the lower end of those available!
Being lunch time we did not have cocktails, but looking at those served to others, will be on our list, when we visit in the evening!!
We were surprised to note that when the previous chain , also serving the same food pulled out, to replaced by the smaller RIO chain.
Our first , but not last visit, to this “ new” addition to the restaurants available in Chester

Fab tasty food, very attentive staff, great dining experience.
We were shown to our seats promptly, they explained the process of how the meat is served etc
We were asked if we wanted water for the table, we were brought 2 large bottles of fancy water (we expected a jug of tap) this should have been explained as it wasn’t cheap! So if you’re offered water just be aware you’ll pay for it.
The price per head on a Friday evening was just under £40 a head. A 10% service charge is added to the bill which you can request they take off but it’s only what you’d pay as a tip so we left it on
The salad bar was very nice. The food here is stunning. Some of the plates had just been bought out that were clearly fresh from the dishwasher as they were piping hot, not a big deal but at £40 a head it seems fair to be picky
Don’t load up on the salad bar too much, the meat comes out very frequently and you’ll want to save as much room as you can to try all the different cuts.
I give this place a firm 5 stars, highly recommend. Will be returning soon

The meat is really very good. Great selection and always on hand. Really, really well prepared. No point going anywhere else if meat is your thing to be honest. Salad bar is good too, well presented and some good choices. Service is good and friendly and attentive. I'm only dropping a star because although it's pretty good value, it's definitely not cheap and an absolute marker for me of service excellence is the simple expedient of providing a bottle of table water. Tap water costs absolutely nothing and when I'm eating well prepared, properly salted meat like this I need to hydrate. I can't keep doing that with beer all evening. So my single recommendation, a bottle of tap water on the table.

Salad bar was exceptional
Carved meat tender and tasty
No fries or peppercorn sauce was brought though hence one mark down.

the food was very good well presented, the service was very nice and polite our waitress Amelia was very attentive. however the price was excessive and you don't get your full moneys worth for the average appetite. In conclusion the food is amazing and very well cooked and prepared and the service is amazing just the overall price is just a bit much.

Talking about the price, we are extremely proud of both our food and drinks menu, we put a great deal of care and attention into carefully selecting everything we serve. We feel the price reflects the quality and the care and attention that goes into producing these menus and so I am sorry to hear that you found it expensive: we regularly price-check our menus to make sure we are offering the best value for our guests.

Delivered on all 3 key points making it great value for money.
1. Venue - atmosphere, clean, tidy
2. Food - amazing, so much choice
3. Service - top class
What I like most is it is what it says it is with no sneaky ways to charge more, eg paying for steak sauces etc. For example they bring a little Brazilian snack at the start, chips with the meats without asking for it. Nothing is extra, all included.
A huge shout out to Chris who looked after us. I have worked in hospitality for nearly 20 years and I am passionate about it being delivered properly when guests pay a lot of money.
Chris is up there with the best we have had look after us. It is clear to see he is a good person and cares about his job. Something as simple as wiping down a table is done to a high standard whilst many would quickly go over it, he makes sure it is immaculate.
Some people are worth their weight in gold for companies and he sets the standard. If everyone in hospitality was to follow his level there would be very few restaurants closing down and many more successful ones, especially if the food and venue matches the quality of service.
We will be back again for sure!
