We have been visiting this pub for many years now and it never disappoints. Cosy, charming and traditional, roaring fire and real ale. We moved away from Chester almost 10 years ago (this place is special to us we had our civil partnership here on the top floor and were pleased to see Alex is still managing the place as... More

During our day visit to Chester we decided to stay for dinner. The building is from 1664 so immediately I wanted to check it. The place is very comfy, food is very good and price reasonable. We had the fish and chips which was very good. Quite a few selection of beers!

Popped in for a cheeky glass of red wine during our walk around the wall in Chester. We immediately felt at home in the pub and decided there an then to return in the evening for a meal rather than going to a restaurant. The wine was a lovely merlot, which was one of the house wines (the other was... More

A group of visitors from the US wanted to experience a proper English pub and bear and billet ticked all the boxes for us: traditional building in a great location, proper pub food and an excellent selection of ales. they coped brilliantly with a large group and the service was excellent. Tom looked after us and ensured that everyone had... More

The Bear & Billet is a terrific 3 storie pub located inside the walled city of Chester which was owned by the Earl of Shrewsbury & built in 1664. The Bear & Billet offers a great friendly place to enjoy food and drink. We have a wide selection of cask ales and well as draught and bottled beers from around the world. We have a full homecoo0ked food menu available everyday day with Sunday lunch available every Sunday from 12pm-7pm.

Not only that we have function rooms available for hire as well as live sport shown throughout the year with 5 flat screen T. V's available on 3 floors.
