About
Beautiful, rustic beach cafe right on the beach at Portelet Bay. We specialise in pizza; the thin and crispy kind! We use the freshest ingredients & have a small, fresh menu. We make delicious salads full of goodness such as seasonal roasted vegetables, toasted nuts & seeds & various cheeses. At breakfast time we offer homemade granola, breakfast cakes, freshly squeezed juice and fresh ground coffee and tea. We have an alcohol licence. We promote access by boat, kayak and paddle board! Dolphins have been spotted from the restaurant windows directly in front of the cafe in the bay - it is a truly beautiful location. Bus 12A to Portelet and then take a quick walk down to the beach where you will find us. There is no vehicular access as there is no road directly to the beach but this makes it all the more special. Please check Facebook links for opening times. Well worth the effort down (and back up!) the steps. Use our online booking system which is found on our website. See you soon!

After a gorgeous day with the family, I wasn't expecting to have such a lovely tasty pizza to take away sitting at a bench on the beach. The pizza base is so thin and one of the nicest pizzas I have eaten so I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality. Although a little pricey was well worth the money

Depends what you are looking for, but if you want pizza on the beach you can't beat this. The pizzas are thin baked and delicious, it is not cheap. ÂŁ15 for pizza takeaway. But if you have the weather and also they have some very nice specials. Kids loved it and the blokes loved the beers too. It is 121 steps down to the beach... so 121 steps back up!!

Ordered pizza after a busy day of swimming in the sea and beach tennis. Pizza was delicious-thin and crispy, cooked to perfection. We enjoyed it so much we returned for lunch a couple of days later. Pizza on the beach is a definite must on a sunny evening in Jersey, I thoroughly recommend! Oh and there are so many steps down to the beach you will probably have burnt the pizza off by the time you get back to the car.

Beautiful location but unfortunately the pizzas are poor quality, came out in 5 mins, obviously little preparation involved for what was an expensive pizza. Topping looked like was hastily smeared on, tomato tasted like it came from a can. Other much better pizza options in Jersey although not on the beach

Probably the best located Pizza restaurant that I have visited but unfortunately also the worst Pizza I have ever eaten. The one I chose is the same as the one on the photo above but mine was nothing like that. I don't mind a thin crispy pizza base but this was more like a cream cracker that just disintegrated in to shrapnel when I bit into it. There were virtually no toppings, a couple of olives, a few tiny mushroom slices, a smearing of tomato sauce and virtually no mozzarella that i could discern. The ham was just tiny squares with little flavour. Overall a complete rip off for ÂŁ14. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but Pizza is one of the easiest foods to make so there is no excuse for making a bad one.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your pizza. We take pride in making hand made pizza to the highest quality and had you told of your disappointment we would have been able to make you another one to your liking. We would always hope to communicate with our customers and rectify any problems that may be present instead of you taking to trip advisor to make your complaint. We are a small and hard working team who are dealing with many current challenges and will continue to do our best to serve the highest quality food. It is a shame you did not mention this at the time so we could assist.

So disappointed with the measly takeaway salad portions. Goats cheese salad came in a small pizza box on a paper plate and consisted of one round of goats cheese, a few wilted lettuce leaves and a sprinkling of seeds. The vegan salad was no better, a dollop of hummus, a few bits of avo and only some of the lettuce was edible. Not tasty, not good value for money and not a main course portion size - all for just under £14 each. We definitely won’t be going back or recommending it to our friends.

We are sorry to hear you were unhappy with the salad. This is most surprising as we pride ourselves in offering fresh and delicious food which is made to order and the portion sizes have been welcomed in the past. I wish we had been informed and we could have rectified your disappointment with an alternative dish or salad had we known you were unhappy. We do put the salad in a small pizza box as we have a zero plastic policy and the card board is far more environmentally friendly as well as being on a paper plate inside the box. We hope you enjoyed the summer.

Initially called in for a drink at end of a good walk but having seen menu decided to stay on for an early tea. Really pleased we did. Excellent, fresh, tasty thin crust pizza for me and very good goat's cheese salad for K. Limited beer choice, but not surprising given the location. We were in weekday late afternoon (5ish), they were already fully booked for later meals. Location is brilliant, the only place to eat down on this lovely bay.

Everything seemed a bit disorganised when we visited this cafe for dinner It seemed that groups were given a maximum time to have their meal and leave but the system wasn't working very well We arrived at our booked time but we still had a bit of a wait for service. The waitress who, eventually, gave us a menu was not at all welcoming and virtually threw one menu on the table The waiter who delivered our food was totally different and provided friendly service We each had a pizza. They were ok but no more than that. In our opinion far to thin All in all pretty disappointing in what is an excellent setting

Good morning , thank you for your recent review . Firstly sorry you didn’t like the style of our pizzas - they are purposefully very thin and crispy and this is our style and method of cooking . Pizza can of course be far more doughy and thick based , but our restaurant makes thin and crispy ones which usually are very well received and people comment often how delicious they are and how they enjoy the crispy and thin base . Judging by your review it looks like it you visited on Monday the 18th July which was a heat wave and we were working under extreme pressure and in unprecedented temperatures. Many other restaurants decided to close but we did our best and continued to operate . The staff had been on double shifts that day as many other staff are off (sorry to use this excuse as it sounds repetitive but like everyone in the industry it is true and COVID is playing havoc again ). You mention there is a turn around time on tables and this is absolutely correct . This allows us to ensure we fulfil covers to make what is a seasonal and weather dependant business viable . Sometimes customers overstay and it’s not always easy to re seat the next table exactly in time - in a heat wave the timings were delayed understandably as both staff and customers were taking longer than normal . We also had lots of walkins and take away demand that evening which we have no way of planning for . The system is Res Diary and works brilliantly but we are also always working with human nature along side it. It’s is such a shame you didn’t email me personally and I could have listened to your feedback and responded and offered some compensation if you felt your meal and experience was not up to your expectations . Trip advisor is a powerful platform and we have no way of controlling anything that is posted here on this site other than replying as I am now . We work tirelessly hard to try and give the best we can , and yet can be publicly knocked in a few minutes without any consideration to the damage to our business . It’s is deeply upsetting when we all try so very hard and are working in extremely difficult circumstances . I hope you enjoyed your trip to jersey and wish you a happy holiday .

Fantastic location on Jersey’s most perfect beach. The food is great, and sitting at one of their beach tables eating crab linguini during an exceptionally high tide was exhilarating. Fab pizza too. Their systems for managing COVID work.

We've been meaning to come here for a while - so glad we have finally done so. We booked ahead because things get busy on a sunny summer evening which isn't surprising because Portelet is a beautiful location and the food from the cafe is delicious. We had garlic bread, pizzas and pudding and it was all extremely tasty and the kids loved it all! We'll definitely be coming back!

The food was very good (we had pizza and crab linguine) and the views from the restaurant were excellent in the evening. I liked the style of the very thin pizza. The service let down the experience because we were very rushed from the moment we sat down. At one point, one of the waitresses took away my plate while I was still chewing! The waitresses were having quite an unprofessional conversation as well.

Such an amazing place in the best location in Jersey. I think they should call it a restuarant as its so much more than a cafe. Pizzas are fresh and tasty, and the fresh scollops were devine. Ali and the team are great and it's our favourite place on the island and well worth a visit. Thank you so much for making our holiday, from scott, anneka and our two little happy boys

First, don't wear inappropriate shoes. The walk down to the beach is steep and the walk up to this cafe is rocky but it's nice to have really fresh food, pizza in my case, on the beach. If you are a tourist stay away...I don't want this beach crowded the next time I'm in Jersey ;)

Nestled along the shore, the Portlet Bay Cafe proved to be a delightful escape from the dreary weather. Despite the rain pouring down outside, the restaurant's was cozy and the decor is fun and nautical. The menu has an array of tempting pizza options. To our delight, the restaurant offered an excellent gluten-free pizza, accommodating dietary needs without compromising on flavor. The scallops are anabsolute must-have as was the goats cheese salad. The service was exceptional. The staff and management were attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring our dietary restrictions were met with no issues. Their warm, friendly demeanor added to the overall charm of the dining experience. Despite the rain outside, our visit to the Portlet Bay Cafe was a sunny spot in our day. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and the cozy ambiance made for a memorable meal that we will undoubtedly return for. If you're looking for a seaside dining experience that shines regardless of the weather, The Portlet Bay is the place to be.

We had heard about the Portelet Bay Cafe before we set off on our 12 week adventure backpacking around the celtic islands. And 12 weeks later we took the 12A bus and walked down to the beach in southwest Jersey for a wonderful meal overlooking Portelet Bay. The cafe is small and gets busy, so best to book in advance and to chill and just go with the flow. We had two great vegetarian pizzas, a lovely bottle of French wine and desserts, all whilst watching the sun go down and tide go out. The owners and all the staff are fabulous. Highly recommended.
