Great restaurant down by the harbour.

Lovely restaurant down by the harbour. They have a downstairs area offering beach views with outdoor seating area which could make for a perfect summer evening - just need sun. Ordered a couple of tapas dishes to share as starters, came promptly and were very tasty. Main courses of Seafood Paella and Lobster Salad were excellent. Lots of seafood and the lobster was well prepared. The pizza and burger were both devoured by the kids and had very generous cheese portions. Could offer more in the way of desserts, but the baked white chocolate cheesecake was very good. If the only the sun could have been shining as well.

Great food and service

My friends and I recently dined here for a joint 40th and 50th Birthday and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional, and the service was top-notch. The menu offered a great range of options and specials, and each dish was a culinary delight. What made our visit even more enjoyable was the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We had a member in our party who was quite loud, but the staff and fellow diners were incredibly accommodating and understanding. It truly made for a memorable and enjoyable evening for all of us. We look forward to returning on our next trip to Alderney

The best tapas anywhere

Fantastic atmosphere sitting on the balcony overlooking Bray Beach. Superb tapas choice, to die for potato wedges, yummy chicken, succulent tempura prawns and tasty deep fried cauliflower. Our third visit can’t wait for the next.

Cantina Number 6 leaves a lot to be desired!

Not our best experience. The restaurant is clean enough but tired and scruffy which does not give confidence about the kitchen. Servers are "smiley" and efficient but they can only bring the food that comes out of the kitchen and for us, this is where change needs to happen. Styled as a "Tapas Restaurant", we found our "tapas" dishes to be either over cooked or as in the case of the 'spicy chicken', bland, dull and tasteless (obviously catering breaded chicken goujons by another name}. When we mentioned our disappointment items were deleted from our bill without demur but with the explanation that they ...."dont serve 'Spanish Tapas' as such but more 'small plates' of 'tapas style' food"..... Sorry Cantina Number 6 - either you are a "Tapas Restaurant" or you are not and "small plates" is not an acceptable excuse for serving poor quality food!

Hi there. A few points to address here. ‘Spicy chicken’ - we serve Jerk Chicken, Piri Chicken and Rachel’s Southern Fried Chicken. Jerk is spicy but zesty, piri is hot and tangy and southern fried is not spicy at all but seasoned. So it’s unclear which chicken dish you are referring to? We use fresh chicken breasts for all of these dishes and Absolutely EVERYTHING we cook is from Gloria’s spice blends and recipes and 40 year experience of WORLD food. People refer to us as the tapas restaurant but we, in fact, are a combination of years of restaurant and hospitality experiences that are currently in the building known as Cantina. Tapas style is what Glo and team have honed over time (in various locations) which incorporates the idea of little dishes and lots of flavours to enjoy whilst socialising and enjoying your time with friends in a low key, casual restaurant. Rest assured our kitchen is immaculate (5 star rated by the States Health and Environmental dept.) and our restaurant is cleaned daily by a professional cleaner. The shabby chic look isn’t for all and that’s fine. White table cloths, hushed diners and turned up noses can be found elsewhere. I’m not sure what your review serves really other than an attempt to knock a small business down? You didn’t enjoy your experience, your dishes were comped (Glo’s policy is if you aren’t happy, you don’t pay as she’s confident in her dishes and it’s extremely rare that customers are not happy) so what could have fixed your dining experience? We’d be happy to serve you again and perhaps get a more accurate review of our exceptionally delicious and renowned food. Love and spices! Glo and team x

Expensive and not so good.

Sadly disappointing and very expensive for what it is. The corn on the cob was watery and tasteless and had clearly just been thawed out. You got two extremely small crab cakes for £10. Not what we were expecting. Try some other places the standard of the food on the island is generally good.

Hi there Picked local crab meat is £25 per pound. Portion that into crab cakes (adding chili and lime plus egg and breadcrumbs on the outside) that are full of crab with no potato or other bulking ingredients and I wonder what you expect the cost is to us as a restaurant? 🤔 Believe it or not, we’d like to make a profit one day, although that is proving very difficult with rising costs. It costs masses more to get produce to our little island - more than Guernsey even. Oh and we also have to pay staff and electricity and rent and all sorts! Corn on the cob - we dont use frozen corn at all so not really sure about this comment. Again, baffling but if you’d have expressed your objections at the time I am sure you wouldn’t have paid for it and indeed could order something else. Thanks for taking the time to point out how expensive things are - you are absolutely right on that point! If you have any advice on how to cut the costs to getting produce here for less please do let us know. Love and spices! Glo and team x

We visited this restaurant for tapas .It has a lovely atmosphere and a lovely fire. The tapas was quite unusual but very nice .The wine list was good and was well priced we had the most delicious sticky toffee pudding .

Amazing tapas and the warmest of welcomes

This restaurant was the highlight of our staycation in September. From the moment we walked through the door, the welcome was second to none from the young enthusiastic couple at front of house. The tapas was freshly cooked and beautifully presented, and the service first class in this extremely busy restaurant. We wished we had eaten there both nights. We will definitely be back when we next visit Alderney. Although we didn't order pizza - it looked superb too.

Tapas on Alderney? Really? Actually yes :)

We just walked in on spec on our first night on Alderney. (It's a good idea to book on small islands like Alderney and Sark - but we got away with it.) Our original plan was not to eat after a day travelling and start in the morning. But we got a bit peckish and wandered about. We found this at random (or, at the harbour). We make no claim to be tapas experts (couple of visits to Spain / Canaries) but this was really good. A quick snack turned into 6 tapas between the pair of us. Very tasty and will go back again next time on Alderney.

An excellent evening meal. The garlic mushrooms on the Tapas menu bar excellent. The quality and variety of pizzas was incredible alongside being very tasty. Nothing was too much problem for the chef to deal with particular dietary needs. The desert of elderflower jelly to finish was absolutely delicious. Full marks to the serving staff and the chefs who gave us an amazing meal. Heartily recommended.

Outstanding tapas, friendly place with good views

This is an excellent place for lunch or dinner. A must visit restaurant on the island. We enjoyed a delightful mix of really tasty tapas, with a view across the dunes and countryside just yards from the beach. The service was outstanding with a vivacious, friendly, Portugese waitress. We really enjoyed our trip to the island and our lunch was a highlight.

Delicious food, wanted to order more dishes but was too full1

Nice cozy dining troom and enthusistic hosts, That was a good start. We are a family of 4 and chose 2 dishes each for all of us to share, this worked well. I was expecting to need to order some more but absolutely didn't need to. It's not strictly Spanish tapas, it's more global in terms of the origins of dishes, Every selection was delicious, our best meal on Alderney. The wine and beer selection is a little limited and we idn't get to try the desserts.... finally if you like to be quizzed on national flags they have a huge number hanging from the celing!

Delicious, generous, flavourful Tapas

We went there on a recent visit to Alderney, and it didnt disapoint. Having previously found tapas to often be a little unforfilling for hungry guys, we over ordered! We ended up taking home a doggy bag. Everyone loved their food, including fussier children. One of our party had pizza and it was really good, handmade pizza. We would definitly return.

Amazing lunch

We had a lot of recommendations to eat here, so we booked, and boy it did not disappoint! Petra on front of house works her socks off and was so helpful. Now the extra important bit…. Glorias cooking! Insanely good!!! We both agreed our best tapas experience! In the photo you see we had the garlic mushroom, chorizo in this amazing tomato sauce, crab cakes, calamari (my favourite), patatas bravas, jerk chicken and salad. Seriously tasty dishes can’t wait to go back!

Superb food, atmosphere and service

Thanks to Jo and the team for another superb evening of excellent, fresh and great food. It was our first time back in 2021 having discovered Cantina Number 6 for the first time in 2020 and we were not disappointed. The menu and food was really, really good and the fish and shellfish all locally sourced and so tasty. Highly recommended and we will be back as soon as we can. Book ahead to ensure you get in.

As good as everyone said it would be!

Very, very nice food. Portions were generous, well priced and delicious. Wine was good too, served at the right temperature. Nachos, beef strips, RFC, wedges etc. were spot on. One thing I was a bit miffed at though, no craft beers.i don't know why, maybe I should have asked, but all beers on the menu were not craft just standard stuff. Would definitely go back though 👌
