The best fish and chips.

Always popular on the island but currently only open Thursday to Sunday. We had booked a table on Friday night and were welcomed warmly. The cod and chips were beautifully fried and presented. If you wish you could take your own bottle of wine with which to round off a very reasonably priced but excellent meal. Possibly the best chippy in the Channel Islands! Don't miss it.

Super cheerful chippy !

Weekend sail to Alderney found us walking past the enticing smells of this wonderful friendly chippy … had great portions of fish and chips - chose cod which was a huge bit of chunky , fresh and tasty fish with the best batter I’ve ever tasted.. crispy and light but not too light. Staff were a wonderful bunch and looked after us really well as we chose to sit in and enjoy the tail end of the sunset 🌅 . Thoroughly recommend .

Old fashioned fish and chips as a chippy should be

Just felt like some fish and chips and the Braye chippy did not disappoint. Super fresh fish, curry sauce and chips and a lovely view over the Harbour with tables and chairs provided. Get there before they close at 8pm though. Check the opening days so not to be disappointed. Will be back for the fly-in.

Disappointing

Really wanted to like the place but it wasn't a good experience unfortunately. The prices have gone up under the new management but had the food been good I wouldn't have minded a bit. It wasn't. They got my wife's order wrong twice, my grandsons burger came with tomato sauce all over it ( which he doesn't like) and I had the cod which was ok but the chips were frankly awful, more hard crispy bits and black ends than potato. Given there are limited places to eat out in Alderney we were all rather disappointed. We were the only customers in the place for an hour during peak evening meal time, can't say I'm surprised.

Worth a trip to Alderney just to enjoy these chips!

Great chips, large portions: we had some chips and some cheesy chips. Both the curry sauce and the gravy were excellent too. We took our chips out to our yacht in the harbour and the boxes kept them warm, but the paper carrier bag handles only just made the journey: our bad; they are not designed for such a journey and another time we’d put the lot in a stronger bag.

Really Great Cod and Chip.

Our first visit to the Braye Chippy since it changed hands and we couldn’t fault it. Five of us for a sit down meal which was served piping hot and very well cooked. The only thing that surprised us was that there wasn’t a queue of people picking up their great food. We will definitely be back soon.

Pro's Visited for a sit-down meal, good service, and a clean establishment. Cons For a chippy located on an island surrounded by the sea full of fish and being a VAT exempt zone, I thought that £12.75 for cod and chips was too expensive, with vat would cost over £15.00. Meanwhile on mainland UK the same meal would cost between £10 - 11.00

Great chippy with tasty food and good service.

Exactly what we needed after a long day walking around the island. Service was friendly and the food came promptly. The Haddock was thick, firm and juicy. Really tasty. The cheese on the cheesy chips was generous and very moorish. Portions generous and the kids portion is definitely large enough for younger people. You can even get a few classic Chinese dishes and specials. With a choice of indoor or outdoor seating, all condiments very much recommended.

Great to see a proper Chippy back on the island. Good menu, friendly staff, I found the cuddly toy octopi particularly appealing and very reasonably priced. Piping hot and crispy, what more do you need?

A Disappointment

Our cod and chips were nice and freshly cooked. But unfortunately the atmosphere was disappointing. Admittedly my husband I were the only people in there, but we were served by a waitress who hardly said a thing to us. No background music to take the silence away. Wouldn't return.

Perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal .

Have a lovely evening and enjoyed some delicious food . Front of house staff very tentative to make sure you have a good time. Location is good and you can either sit inside or outside to enjoy the view or call and order a takeout. Good selection of food and beverages Give it a try when you visit the Island or if you want to treat your family and friends who are visiting you and you won’t be disappointed.

Teething troubles?

The Chippy has recently changed hands and our recent visit suggests the new owners haven't yet reached the high standards of the previous owners. I had cod and chips, which was pricey although a very generous serving. It appeared that the oil used for frying was not as clean as it could have been. Hopefully the problems will be sorted out as this used to be a great place to go.

Real Fish and Chips in a great little restaurant.

Really tasty Fish and Chips in a kitsch restaurant, huge portions and great value for money. The fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. Real chips. Mushy peas. Couldn’t ask for more. Family run business, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. Took some time to talk with the waitress, really welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Back To Frozen Chips, Expensive, Low Quality, Rude Staff.

Front of house staff very rude, food quality has dropped. Back to frozen chips again. Prices keep going up but quality is not improving. If you can do anything please make proper chips.

Lovely Lockdown fish and chips!

Although in lockdown Braye Chippy delivered to us promptly and the fish and chips were lovely. Nice fresh white flaky fish. Yum! Thank you Braye Chippy see you soon.
