The menu here is fixed price dependent on the number of courses you eat. The food was well prepared and presented, the portion size meant we were able to enjoy the full three courses. It was not a particularly busy night when we went and the only negative comment we would make is that the staff seemed reluctant to interact with their customers, which is most unlike Alderney people. We would eat there again but the atmosphere is much more formal than other places we visited.

I recently stayed at the Blonde Hedgehog. It was an oasis for the island. The restaurant specializes in Farm to table cooking which means a lot to me and my family. The dishes were prepared with care and mindfulness to what is growing and available on this exotic island. The atmosphere in the restaurant is welcoming and very up to date with a great vibe. Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner for two or a lively dinner with friends this restaurant has it all. Before sitting down at a table in the dining room we were greeted at the bar by a friendly bartender. We had a few drinks at the bar and met some lovely locals and other tourists then headed into the restaurant. Our server here was also friendly and knowledgeable about each dish and took into account my several allergies and parlayed them to the chef which he accommodated without hesitation. We finished off with a nightcap and desert in the cozy sitting room with a fireplace and comfy chairs and sofas. The next morning I had a lovely breakfast of fresh homemade granola and local yogurts. My partner had local eggs, bacon and delicious toast and marmalade. The marmalade was a real treat made by a local vendor who owns a tea shop down the way. The island of Alderney is a beautiful windswept island with stunning views and history. Our experience and comfort at the Blonde Hedgehog would take us back to this island without hesitation.

Dear Debbie Many thanks for your lovely review of your stay at the Blonde Hedgehog, it was a delight having you and your family stay with us! We are so glad that you had a great time and allowed us to take away your worries of eating out by taking the time to help us understand your allergies. Delighted you enjoyed "Mel's" marmalade - we love to work with local suppliers here on island. We hope that you will visit us again the next time you are travelling to the Channel Islands. With all good wishes, Tracey Farquhar-Beck, GM

This is a relatively new boutique hotel in the centre of town in Alderney. We have visited twice for short stays in the last couple of months and have been consistently satisfied with the standard of the food and the rooms. Staff are efficient, friendly and helpful. The rooms are fitted to the high standard one would expect for the premium costs although one gets value for money. Throughly recommended for a very different location.

The food was superb and receives 5/5 but my evening was tainted by inadequate service 1/5 I had good recommendations from colleagues in Guernsey who had dined here on their “staycations” and had accordingly made my reservation weeks ago to be sure of securing a spot. The restaurant was busy enough to have a good atmosphere, but there were empty tables so the waiting and service staf shouldn’t have been so pushed as to make me feel unwanted... Part of the joy of my solo holidays is my evening dining and the wonderful attentive service I always seem to receive as a single diner.. Disappointed that this was so lacking tonight that 1/2 hour in the “waiting area” I was close to walking out and finding somewhere else to dine. My pounds are surely as valuable to the business as anyone else, but it did t feel like it. I am sure if you are dining in a larger group you was have a wonderful experience but for me, with several nights left of my holiday, I’ll regrettably be taking my custom elsewhere

Dear Debra Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience. I am so sorry that our usual high standard of service did not deliver for you during your visit. We did greet you on arrival where you requested to have a drink in the bar before going to your table, which did delay us taking your order, a little longer than we would have liked. I do apologies for the delay. My colleagues did check with you on several occasions during the evening and were not aware of any problem. If you had told us at the time that you were unhappy, we would have been able to address it there and then - the last thing we want is our guests to walk away feeling that they did not get good service. We do not discriminate against any diner, solo or groups. We try to deliver the best service possible, all of the time. Sometimes we dont get it quite right, we are only human, but will go over and above to make it right if we are given the opportunity to do so. We hope you will give us the opportunity in the future to show you that we really can provide an exceptional all round experience. Best wishes, Tracey Farquhar-Beck

Where do I start apart from wow just wow! From the beautiful bedrooms to the modern beautiful bathrooms, to the home away from home feel and the incredible staff who worked their socks off and still had a smile whenever you saw them at whatever time of day. We originally came over for my sisters 30 birthdays and I had asked the blonde hedgehog to help me out with cakes and decorations. I completely understood that due to the recent changes in travel between Guernsey and Alderney it meant everyone was flocking over there as a chance to get off this rock and have a holiday. This meant the hotel was very busy so the manager kindly gave me telephone numbers of local business who would help out. Mano and Louise did the cakes and in the words of Janice from Friends “oh my god!” The cakes were incredible and an awesome surprise for my sisters to see them in the rooms when we arrived. I also asked the local florists for balloons which they also delivered to the rooms and staff at the hedgehog did an amazing job at decorating the rooms. We ate breakfast and dinner there and the food is incredible and very fresh, I’m a bit of a picky eater but I must say they catered for everyone. (The desserts where like being in heaven). On an afternoon after walking all morning and exploring we came back to the rooms, changed, showered under what felt like a magical waterfall in Fiji and then headed out to the tiered gardens at the back of the hotel by the restaurant. Our room overlooked the gardens and it was lovely. We sat out with a book, us girls gossiped and drank wine (lots) and soaked up all the sun, I couldn’t have asked to have been in a better place at a better time. We will definitely be back. We all agreed to make it a annual girls weekend in the summer, next we’re hoping to come over for Alderney week. Plus there may even me a wedding there in a couple of years! Thanks again Blonde Hedgehog and we will see you again soon!!

This is a gem of a place on a small island. The rooms have been fitted out beautifully with gorgeous bathrooms including a really nice bath. There service is friendly and attentive and the breakfast will satisfy anybody with a wide range of cooked options alongside homemade granola and pastries. Well worth a visit.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. It was a welcome break from a very busy and hectic life. The service was just right, not too "in your face" service, but you knew that there would be somebody ready to get anything you need, whether it be food, tea in the room or a relaxing glass of red wine whilst sitting by the log fire in the evening. We stayed here for just two nights and went in off peak season too (early December), so there weren't too many folk around. I need a gluten free diet and every care was taken to look after me and ensure that I ate dishes that were just as delicious as those eating the normal menu. The decor is tasteful and not over done. Just perfect and we will be returning as soon as we can.

We've just had a delicious meal at the very smart, surely classified as boutique hotel, Blonde Hedgehog in Alderney. A simple menu offering a choice of 4 starters, 4 main courses and a couple of desserts or cheese offers something for everyone. Competitively priced at £28 for 2 courses or £36 for 3 with a carefully selected wine list to cater for all tastes and prices. Could this be the next restaurant to come to the notice of the Michelin inspectors? Well I think it deserves a chance 😉

I arrived with a colleague on a windy December day and toured the Island before checking into the Blonde Hedgehog. I did not know what to expect other than a review I read in How To Spend It. I was surprised to find a little jewel of a place. It was so nice to warm up in the cosy area by the fireplace for a tea. Dinner was also delicious and I really like how there menu changes every day. There was a great choice of wines and the cocktails were perfect. The waiter pointed out that most of the produce was from the Blonde Hedgehog. You could taste how fresh everything was. The rooms are spacious and so comfortable I did not want to get out of bed. They are tastefully done and when I was having breakfast I heard another guest asking for the paint colours for their own home. I found the staff incredibly helpful. They gave us great tips for things to see! I will definitely come again.

We had the most fabulous stay at the blonde hedgehog a couple of weekends ago. We travelled up to Alderney with a group of friends from Guernsey for a long weekend, from start to finish we were totally blown away by just how wonderful this place is! From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes! Both Cindy & April went above and beyond to make us feel welcome & made the whole check-in process seamless & really efficient. The Hotel itself is absolutely stunning! The whole feel & vibe of the place is one of classic class, elegance & luxury, whilst also being extremely cosy and inviting at the same time. Our room was amazing (we stayed in the Burrow), and the bed was sooooo comfy I never wanted to leave! We enjoyed an evening meal, breakfast & teatime drinks in the bar during our stay, and have to say, the food drinks and ambience of the bar & restaurant was fantastic! Very relaxed atmosphere & outstanding food! Every dish we ordered was to the highest of standards! Carefully thought out to showcase an array of the finest ingredients put together in well executed & delicious dishes (where possible, showcasing exquisite local ingredients!) Seriously, I would have eaten in the restaurant every day of our stay if I could have! I would highly recommend staying and dining at the blonde hedgehog to anyone! We’re already looking forward to our next visit I cannot wait to stay again! On behalf of myself and our group of friends we visited with, we would like to say a very big thanks to all the Blond Hedgehog team, for making us feel so welcome and looking after us! (special shout out to Cindy April and Sophie too! You guys are absolute stars!). Here’s to our next stay with you very soon! Best wishes Gemma Lainé-Sparkes & Co!

We recently travelled to the Northern Isle Alderney, booked the Blonde Hedgehog and from the time we arrived at 9.15 in the morning we were made welcome, our room was not ready as you expect at this time of the day, our bag was taken from us and Che k in all completed, we then told we could have a breakfast if we wished, but had decided to go for a walk, popped back after lunch out and about and checked the room out EXCELLENT is the only way to describe it. Stayed in various hotel over the world and this was among the best. In our package at the hotel two evening meals were included so booked in for dinner, again from the time we walked into the bar the staff could not have been more helpful, the food again could not be faulted. Breakfast agin was the normal breakfast bar and offering of cooked dishes served by staff you had been seen in doing various jobs in the Hotel the day before. Have to say this was an absolute super break in a super hotel on a super Island which was made better being blessed in sunshine and so easy to get there by a super service being offered by Auringy.

We went to Alderney for the weekend and stayed at the Blonde Hedgehog. The rooms are divine, the food was excellent ( vegetables farm to table) and the staff were incredibly helpful with booking bikes and suggesting places to see on the island. I look forward to going back and trying the Blonde Hedgehog family cottage opposite the hotel with friends.

We have just returned from a fantastic two days at the Blonde Hedgehog. After being stuck at home for two months we wanted something special that although not far away, really felt like a break. We were lucky enough to get a Staycation deal including dinner. The hotel is the perfect blend of luxury and relaxed. The food was beautiful, fine dining with a very relaxed atmosphere. They have created a kitchen garden nearby and aim to use this as much as possible, making it extra fresh and delicious. The restaurant has beautiful terraced gardens which are a lovely place for afternoon tea, or pre dinner aperitif. We had an almond croissant in the afternoon with tea, it was one of the best I have tasted - believe me I’ve tasted a few! The top level is perfect for catching the last of the sun before dinner. The staff were incredibly helpful, the young guy and girls behind the bar were brilliant. I’m not sure the manager Tracey has time to go home to sleep. She is literally there from breakfast until the last thing at night! Our room was beautifully and tastefully decorated and the roll top bath with bathing salts and oils was definitely a welcome addition after a long day exploring! We loved our break and found Alderney a great place to visit and one of the most friendly and welcoming of all the Islands. The Blonde Hedgehog is still very new but has obviously already been making a great name for itself on the island. We are looking forward to paying a return trip in the future!

Dinner here proved an enjoyable experience. Food well considered, with the flavours balanced by a clearly confident chef. As it was my birthday, only sorry that champagne not available by the glass, though I had a fine Malbec instead. Lovely touch was pudding served with ‘Happy Birthday’ written in chocolate on plate. Staff attentive and service good. Fairly expensive, but worth it for food and room design.

The food is consistently excellent, with an attractive ambience - service attentive and very personal. The menu includes local sea food and beef freshly sourced and freshly baked bread daily. The view of the garden is attractive and relaxing and the bar and snug areas provide comfortable places to chill out either pre/post-dinner or lunch or just for a convivial and relaxing drink. .
