Superb Sunday roast!!

We came for a roast lunch a few weeks back and it was amazing. 3 adults and 1 infant. Few drinks and a bottle of wine (under 48£) for all of us. We shared some cod bites to start which were cooked to perfection. Moving on to the roasts, the lamp was cooked to perfection with a bit of pink still and flavoured beautifully, beef was also very tasty and cooked to perfection. All the veg was great and the gravy was a proper gravy with loads of flavour. Would defiantly recommend a visit!! Staff were excellent as-well and very accommodating for us. We will be back!! Thankyou

What a diamond

We managed to squeeze two visits to this fabulous place. A quick lunch and a Sunday roast. The food is delicious and the price really reasonable. Service was friendly with good banter and persuasive recommendations. My partner is still salivating over the pork and stuffing pie - a northerner who knows his pies he was so impressed with it. After a long walk what more would you want and it is obviously a firm favorite with the locals.

Offered great drinks service at closing time.

We arrived at 3.55pm tired and thirsty on a Sunday afternoon. Realising it might be closing in 5 minutes we hurried to the bar. Sadly, it had closed at 3.30 BUT the kind gentleman suggested we used the off licence for drinks. We asked if we could sit in the garden and have our drinks ? Glasses with ice were provided and we sat under a cool umbrella. We enquired if we could buy a bag of ice ? Not a problem, thats free ! AND, would you like a free ride back to your camp site at Saye Beach, WHAT ? You're offering us a free bag of ice and a lift to our campsite when closing ? Charming people, super friendly. It was a quick visit but memorable for the typical friendliness offered by Alderney people. Thank you.

Refuses to offer any service well before closing time

We arrived at 3.40pm after a long walk from the town of St Anne. Although the Old Barn does not officially close until 4.00pm, they refused to serve us even a cup of tea. Not very hospitable man. Do not expect him to be very nice to or understanding of walkers or any other tourists.

Overpriced and miserable staff

We were a party of 11 who pre-booked packed lunch style food to take away. We believe 10 of the 11 were disatisfied with the tiny size of the sandwiches etc and enormous prices charged by a very unfriendly staff member. e.g. We (two of us) each paid, very reluctantly, £6.50 for a cheese (no pickle etc) sandwich. We spent four days on Alderney and this was our worst food experience by far.

Superb lunch

A really top quality meal both main and pudding. The chosen main course was a three meat combination with fresh vegetables and excellent Yorkshire pudding. This was followed by 5* sticky toffee pudding! Brilliant all round. Well worth a visit!!

Excellent Sunday lunch

A great Sunday lunch. A wide choice of mains. Top quality meat with tasty gravy, roast potatoes and vegetables. Could not be better. Followed by a splendid choice of desserts- sticky toffee pudding, bread and butter pudding and chocolate brownie. Wonderful all round. GIVE IT A GO!

Unfortunate Attitude

Fabulous location. Friendly young waiters. Manager was unfriendly & inhospitable from the moment we walked in . We felt completely unwelcome. The coffee was mediocre and they couldn’t make a latte. I would advise walking on to the delightful little café at the Campsite. Avoid the Old Barn at all costs.

Disappointing service

We arrived soon after 12 for a quick lunch. We were told all the outside tables were reserved. We said we could ensure we leave by say 1pm, but we were told, no they are reserved. We had our sandwiches which were fine and prepared quickly and then left. Over half of the outside tables were still empty. Disappointing.

Great Sunday lunch

Went here with my Partner & my Patents visiting us. Great sunday lunch, great service from the young lad and the manager (think his name is Jason), very great with allergies. Also popped into the shop next door which stocks food items & alcohol. Thanks very much we will be back soon.

Extremely rude man.

I must echo previous comments with regard to the rude attitude of the owner/manager. In fact any adverse comment regarding his establishment is replied to with even more rudeness. Remember, the customer is always right if reasonable reviews are made.

A really lovely meal in the renovated dining room. Great fish salad and steak pie! Well worth eating. Pleasant ambiance and thoughtful service by staff! Overall well done and we’ll be back😊

Lovely garden, great welcome

We came here last week. Particularly because of a couple of odd reviews marking this place down. We certainly don't agree with them. We only had a couple of beers while sitting in their delightful garden but have no complaints at all. (Except we didn't have time to eat. Will do next visit.)

A treat for a great lunch

We came over to Alderney for the day to have lunch at The Old Barn. The food, drinks and service were all fabulous 👌 I will certainly come back. Don't forget to book to avoid disappointment 😊
