My husband and I went to Midsummer House for our wedding anniversary. We truly enjoyed the food and the service. Everything was superb quality. We will definitely go again!

We had the lovely 5 course lunch menu today. The atmosphere was nice and the food interesting. However I didn't like the hard sell to extort more money from us. As soon as we sat down the wine man appeared with his Champagne trolley which arose before us, "would you like a glass of something fizzy" well you really couldn't... More

My wife and I went for dinner at Midsummer House and spent three wonderful hours working through the current 8 course menu (and more). The location is a lovely Cambridge setting alongside the river and close to the rowing clubs. Out front is Midsummer Common a large area of path and grassland within the city. The original 'house' has been... More

We were prepared to be wowed and prepared to pay for it. But our net takeaway was that it's all show and little substance. Too much "technology " like things frozen with liquid nitrogen, freeze dried sauce (didn't get that one at all!), the foam thing that's just hype. We kept waiting for the actual "meal" but it's a series... More

We came to Midsummer House to celebrate a 21st birthday, and from the very beginning the experience was incredible. Aided by the brilliant weather, we enjoyed a glass of Prosecco and a selection of amuse bouches in the garden. We then sat down for what was by far the best dining experience we have ever had. The food was beyond... More

We booked well in advance with another couple as we were both celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary's. The greeting was great and we were shown to our table and the theatre and absolutely delectable food started. We were offered pre drinks and ordered the English Champaign which was delicious and then the food started, I will not spoil the surprise... More

Now, this review could be biased by the fact that this was a rare opportunity to go out without the children. However, it was really that good. From the phonecall to enquire bout any dietary restrictions, to the friendly reception at the door, the very pleasant drinks and canapes in the garden before the meal, the cheerful and attentive but... I took my husband for a birthday treat. Parking is a problem. There isn't a car park. We were lucky enough to get a spot just next to the bridge. We did see some arrive on their bikes. we were sat in an ordinary conservatory, nothing special. We had a good table but some were squashed next to a wall.... More

Ten of us booked the private dining room for dinner on Friday night. As hoped it was a fantastic experience. The small terrace at the back overlooking the water and private covered lounge were a real unexpected bonus and an excellent place to enjoy a pre dinner drink. We booked the (new) 8 course menu as that is all that... More

Description
With its divine location right on the River Cam, Midsummer House is among East Anglias best restaurants. Once youve finished punting down the river and taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful university city of Cambridge, pay Midsummer House a visit. Relaxed and elegant, with a sunny conservatory and perfect al fresco dining for warm summer evenings, this modern British restaurant offers a wide range of creative dishes with a sophisticated touch learned by Chef Patron Daniel Clifford throughout his years in Britain and Frances best restaurants. Passionate about ingredients, Clifford even uses the harvest from Midsummer Houses own 80 year old apple trees in his cookery.
