This meal was not going to be cheap and i was happy to pay for the experience. I've eaten good food all over the world and I would say I know about flavours however the food at Midsummer was so over seasoned that the flavours on most of the dishes was drowned in salt. The food was well presented, but... More

Mark Abbott deserves more recognition than he gets. Of the three times now that we have dined at Midsummer Daniel Clifford has twice not been in the kitchen, and yet both times our meal has been impeccable. We believe that a head chef has to be capable of matching the performance of the chef patron/executive chef so that the absence... More

I had not read much about the restaurant prior to trying to get a booking. I was fortunate to get an early booking at 7 three weeks in advance. After making the booking I did a bit of research and was eagerly anticipating my trip to Cambridge and the dinner at Midsummer House. Fortunately the restaurant did not disappoint and... More

We have always wanted to dine here but needed a perfect excuse and the ready cash. 10 year wedding anniversary and a bit of inheritance persuaded us to book our 8 course lunch. We started lunch in the garden with gin & T (hubby) and elderflower presse (me) and some delicate delicious appetisers arrived with them. At the table we... More

Have dined at Midsummer House a couple of times as a couple, and although the food was excellent, the ambience is sadly lacking. Dining with friends this time we made our own ambience. The food was amazing, service not too intrusive, leaving us plenty of time to enjoy ourselves in between each course. We enjoyed the 8 course tasting menu... More

Really special place. Food prepared and presented in an amazing fashion. Atmosphere slightly lacking in my personal view however, somewhat clinical ambiance perhaps to be expected at a restaurant of this calibre.....? Cheese trolley simply devine!

I visited Midsummer House for lunch yesterday and took my 86 year old Godmother for a special treat and everything was just PERFECT. From the moment we arrived (and they even 'talked us in' over the phone to find the closest parking place!) until the moment we left - simply perfection. The staff were all wonderful, attentive without being overly... More

Special venue, special food, special staff Expensive but worth every penny The taster menu is fabulous. Lots of small unusual courses which add up to a feast. Wines to compliment each course. Knowledgeable sommelier. Handmade chocolates upstairs with coffee post dinner, wonderful.

An amazing experience. The food is exquisitely prepared, with a lovely balance of flavours. Presentation as good as you would expect in a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Service is faultless - welcoming, discreet but attentive. Worth the money for a special meal.

Description
With its divine location right on the River Cam, Midsummer House is among East Anglias best restaurants. Once youve finished punting down the river and taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful university city of Cambridge, pay Midsummer House a visit. Relaxed and elegant, with a sunny conservatory and perfect al fresco dining for warm summer evenings, this modern British restaurant offers a wide range of creative dishes with a sophisticated touch learned by Chef Patron Daniel Clifford throughout his years in Britain and Frances best restaurants. Passionate about ingredients, Clifford even uses the harvest from Midsummer Houses own 80 year old apple trees in his cookery.
