We went here for a quick drink at lunchtime on our recent visit to Cambridge. One Big Tom and a pint of Extra Cold Guiness later we found ourselves sitting outside during this very mild spell for October and listening to three gentlemen sitting next to us talking shop...this seemed to involve maturated cells, thin layers, teasing out the villi... A really cool old school English pub with history. It is sad to think of how many RAF men had their last drinks there. That said, a must do for the history and great atmosphere. Glasses up to those men and to this great place. Cheers!

The Eagle has a nice selection of beer and a good menu. The place was very busy the day we visited and we were lucky to find a place to sit. You order your drinks and food at the bar, and then they bring the food to you. I had the fish and chips, and the portions were very generous.... More

While exploring Cambridge we stopped for lunch. The decor, history and charm of this pub added to our visit AND we thoroughly enjoyed our delicious fish and chips with a Guinness!

Came here for lunch on the off chance as I had heard good things about the place. As we entered the place the packed I was hesitant that we would be able to get a table at which is nice to see for local pubs. The atmosphere and staff were outstanding throughout our visit despite being busy a young lady... More

This is a traditional pub, and should have "being a pub" down pat by now, but we called in this evening and what a shambles! The beer we wanted had run out, and they had no crisps or nuts - none at all, even though they went "down to the cellar" to check. What sort of pub runs out of... More

The Eagle has something of an all-star reputation due to it being the famed drinking hole of Crick and Watson, the genius pair responsible for unfathoming the structure of DNA. The pub is a nice place for a drink and a bit but, due to its popularity, it is often hard to hear your companions - or indeed find a... More

A mandatory stop whenever I'm in Cambridge. I always head to the back end of the building to hang out in the RAF bar. The writings on the ceiling were done with candles by military pilots. An aviator bar with a lot of history and beer! The Guinness on tap is much colder than the other beers on tap if... More

I've been to the Eagle twice recently with my girlfriend and a colleague, in particular to show them the historic ceiling in the rear serving room. This has some quite interesting burn marks made by WW2 pilots, hence more than 70 years old. The pub as such does not hold a spectacular selection of brands, but enough to try some... More

The pub was so crowded that we had to eat outside, but such is the Eagle's popularity that we and others were happy to do so. Good choice of beers and my companions tell me the wine was fine. Lunch was very good and, I felt, reasonably priced.
