Went with a friend to this restaurant last night. I'd been once before and knew I'd be in for a treat. Every member of staff smiled and greeted us as we went in an was led to our table. Our lovely waitress, Iona, was very knowledgable, friendly and chatty. I had the corn fed chicken fish with peppercorn sauce on... More

I have been a fan of this restaurant for a long time, but either my recent visit was atypical or it has changed for the worse for some reason. Certainly I did not recognise any of the staff, and the place was uncharacteristically empty. The style of service had changed considerably (e.g. I had to ask for my coat to... More

A couple of weeks ago I had a Sunday roast, lamb shoulder. Delicious. Finally I have found a nice place is Cambridge where to eat a good Sunday roast. £14.50 is not that expensive if I eat quality food. Unfortunately the brownie was not that good. A bit dry. Almost 7£...too much to be honest but my friend had the... More

The food and the service where OK. It is on the expensive side (ribeye steak £24) when the steak actually do not justify the price, medium it was not. Nearby pay and display parking across the road and it is very comfortable. We have found the restaurant somewhat noisy.

Had been advised to visit here for lunch and it didn't disappoint. I had the butler steak which was so tender and i could have drunk the peppercorn sauce as it was so nice. My partner had the fidget pie and wanted more ham in it. We were served by Kinga who was warm and friendly. Dessert also good had... More

We came here for a big family meal (10 of us)The building was beautiful and the food is great. The portion sizes are generous and it had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend the haggis bites and english burnt cream and ginger bread men. I would 100% come back!

We've been meaning to eat here for some time; in summary, it was great. Great quality food, service and execution. It may seem like we're stating the obvious for a great restaurant, but I'm sure you'll agree, these three rarely come together... definitely worth a visit.

Lovely place, have been before, but came for lunch this time. Had the beetroot salad which I wouldn't usually go for, but it sounded good. Came with a goats cheese curd which really complimented the flavour of beetroot. Never tried black cabbage before either, was really tasty. Had confit of duck for main course, the meat was so tender! My... More

A new menu, recently released is very well thought out. The ingredients compliment each other, creating a truly great taste. The staff are always attentive, and amicable. Definitely a place to visit, and not too far from the city centre.

Just off the beaten track, The St. John's Chop House is a sister restaurant to The Cambridge Chop House. The restaurant is situated in a 200 year old former Almshouse. Split over 2 levels with 5 separate dining rooms it offers a wide range of dining options from an intimate meal in our Reading Room to the party sized rooms on the ground floor. Traditional British food is once again the mainstay, sourced as locally as possible, complimented by a local cask ale and an interesting wine list. Reservations are taken and recommended, especially at the weekend.
