The Old Queen's Head somehow manages to combine being an excellent pub and an excellent restaurant. With great ale, wine and food and friendly service throughout.

We had a birthday meal with six of the family with each one of us having a different main course - the general consensus was that the main courses were better than average and overall we were satisfied with what we ate. However, the chicken, ham and leek pie I had although tasty, was dry inside and was lacking any... More

I enjoyed dinner and drinks here with coworkers. I found the prices to be fairly reasonable. There were 5 in our group and we had 4 drinks, 2 bottles of wine, appetizers, dinner and 2 desserts + tip = 295GBP. Great service and good food. I seems like an old place, but you can pay with your credit card at... More

We picked this for Sunday lunch for a family spanning 3 generations and the different tastes and likes of 8 and 80 year olds are well catered for. Good ale, nice venue, service was warm and attentive and a good choice of options with children-priced portions without asking for them. The restaurant boasts a gluten free menu on the web... More

Delicious food, with lots of options on the menu, and excellent service; attentive but not pushy. Lovely ambience, quiet enough for a good chat and catch up with friends. Highly recommend.

Lively Friday night at this pub; booked a table for 4 in the snug so able to hear the conversation. Great menu; I really liked the potted prawn and trout starter. Serving staff are friendly and keen to check that you have all that you need. Great all year round pub, particularly cosy in winter. Dogs are welcome

I've been coming to this place for many years now, and at times this has been a superb place to eat, and occasionally a few years ago this did dip slightly. However, I think this place recently has become much more consistent, and I've rarely had a poor meal here. We came for Sunday lunch this weekend, and it really... More

We have been visiting this restaurant off and on for some time and experienced some hit and miss occaisions, but lately they really have upped their game. The venue is full of old world charm, as are many other local places, but the quality of food has really been taken into another class, as was confirmed by our friends' unanimous... More

Description
Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that's full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces. All are welcome in our bar area - even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch...) We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months - and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play. Everything on our menus is freshly made in our kitchen, including our ice creams and tasty chutneys. Our dishes change in line with the seasons and are made using the best local produce that we can get our hands on. In fact - If you think your veggies are top of the crops, then bring them along...we accept them as currency! (We're totally serious - Please ask) We're what you might call a 'proper pub', serving a selection of great real ales and lagers, alongside premium spirits and a good range of soft drinks and organic juices. Our wine list is carefully sourced (that bit was fun) and features boutique wineries - producing an exciting and individual list with many wines served by the glass. Planning a party? If you need that perfect spot to get some business done away from the office, or if you have something special to celebrate, please give us a call! We'll take all the hard work off your hands. Nearby, there are great walks in the beech woodlands of Common and Penn Woods, perfect for a visit to walk off one of our indulgent puds, or that Sunday roast. Whatever the occasion, if you're looking for a lovely spot to eat great food and catch up with friends and family, we think The OQH is just the place... We look forward to welcoming you soon! Tina (General Manager)
