We were on holiday visiting the family and came here for Sunday lunch. The food is absolutely amazing we couldn't fault a thing. The pub is lovely and cosy and has a really nice atmosphere. The service was excellent and the staff were so friendly. Next time we are in Penn we will be back! If you like good food... More

We have been visiting every few months but this was the poorest meal for some time and relatively expensive. Very small starter, uninspired presentation and flavours of the main course and limited cheese board.

stopped off for a quick lunch - not bad prices for small plates and the sweet potato fries and chilli dip was very nice, think the main meals are over priced for what they are and sometimes service can be hit and miss but overall a nice place to eat.

We met friends there for an evening meal. We ate outside on their patio. We like the pub, the staff are friendly and helpful. Food was good, hot and a reasonable choice. Beer is ok, wine is a little expensive. I have been there many times and would recommend to anyone that wants to eat. Pub is dog and child... More

Popped up here to celebrate my birthday but have to say I wish I hadn't, ordered as soon as we arrived, a pulled lamb shoulder salad, a chicken with minted new potatoes and kids bangers and mash. 1 1/2 hrs later 3 luke warm dishes arrived, so hungry by then and at last in possession of something to eat we... Lovely setting, and decor. Table wasn't ready when we arrived though didn't seem that busy. Food was variable, some enjoyed their meals, others sad awful. Chose the parfait for pudding and it really was terrible, a tiny portion of weird frozen iced fruit flavoured slice with dried coconut and passion fruit on top. Didn't complain as would have spoiled our... More

This is the fourth time I have eaten here and the food, service and environment was excellent - yet again. I would highly recommend the bubble and squeak, and the Lemon Sole was superb. This is a great place for a one seeking a really good quality meal!

Really great food served in a beautiful old pub The quality of food, wine and beer are as good as you will get in any pub, and much better than most. Plenty of parking helps make the decision very easy

While visiting friends in the area we frequented this unique pub. It was a very delightful experience and one that will be repeated. Looking for something different we tried "Bubbles & Squeaks". The name intrigued us as our English friends would not divulge the reason for the name or ingredients. As it turned out it was two poached eggs(bubbles) on... More

We haven't eaten here before even though it's fairly local. We both had the bubble and squeak and it was really rather fantastic. The only reason I've given it a 4 is that I feel it's a little overpriced for what it was and that the service was okay but we were lazily greeted at the bar. Venue and garden... More

Our Little Gem is a delightful country pub & restaurant that's full of charm, character and plenty of friendly faces. All are welcome in our bar area - even the beloved pooch! (Our doggy biscuit jar may be of interest to said pooch...) We have a stylish but cosy, two level dining room, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the chilly months - and our lovely garden and terrace overlooking the village church is the perfect spot for those warmer days when the sun comes out to play. Everything on our menus is freshly made in our kitchen, including our ice creams and tasty chutneys. Our dishes change in line with the seasons and are made using the best local produce that we can get our hands on. In fact - If you think your veggies are top of the crops, then bring them along...we accept them as currency! (We're totally serious - Please ask) We're what you might call a 'proper pub', serving a selection of great real ales and lagers, alongside premium spirits and a good range of soft drinks and organic juices. Our wine list is carefully sourced (that bit was fun) and features boutique wineries - producing an exciting and individual list with many wines served by the glass. Planning a party? If you need that perfect spot to get some business done away from the office, or if you have something special to celebrate, please give us a call! We'll take all the hard work off your hands. Nearby, there are great walks in the beech woodlands of Common and Penn Woods, perfect for a visit to walk off one of our indulgent puds, or that Sunday roast. Whatever the occasion, if you're looking for a lovely spot to eat great food and catch up with friends and family, we think The OQH is just the place... We look forward to welcoming you soon!
