Every time myself and my wife travel within Europe, we also look for something special, a nice boutique or unusual bar or restaurant that is sometimes undiscovered or off the beaten track away from us tourists. On this occasion, i never thought i would find one on my own doorstep. Bells is tucked aways in the backstreets of Bristol, about... More

A totally informal buzzy café style atmosphere in two small dining rooms was our first impression of this 'left field' restaurant. It had been recommended by a good friend and retired successful restaurateur. In Bristol for our son's graduation the following day, the three of us came to Bells for an informal family dinner. The principle is very much tapas... More

Stopped for a lunch break with my parents and my three whippets and this place was such a find. From the staff, to the menu to the vibe. We ordered a selection of authentic tapas, with an array of choice including chicken oysters, which I've never seen on a menu before. We sat in a bright and breezy window table... More

We have been to Bells Diner a good few times but today's visit was a cut above the rest, the food was second to none. Their fantastic version of tapas is way beyond anything I've ever had in Spain and I've lived there for a good few years. The jamon butter is one of my all time favourite dishes and... More

My wife and I visited this Tapas Bells Diner on the evening of Friday 1st July. We booked a table and were duly seated. Service was good and swift. We ordered 4 items from the starter menu and were told how ordering should be done they were mostly delicious except the Bell Butter which was not to our liking. Then... More

Good afternoon, We are of course very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food, wine and service at Bell's. Sincere apologies for the extra dish that appeared on the final check. We do have a system for checking bills before they go to the table, unfortunately this was due to human error. This a rare incident and I hope... More

The location, decor, menu, service all brilliant but a couple of our dishes were so salty it was hard to eat all of them, particularly the fried items and clams. Its not often the ham has the least salt of the dishes you choose.

Thank you, It is always a pleasure to hear guests are enjoying what we do, I'm sorry to hear you felt some of the dishes were over seasoned. If you are able to inform us on what you ate and the date of your visit, we would be very grateful. We regard all feedback as a positive, as it can... More

At our son's suggestion four of us went on a Monday night. Had no idea what to expect but from the happy and informal greeting to the final goodnight was just joyful. Really well thought out dishes, perfectly prepared and served with panache. A red Saumur was spot-on. All cooked and served by people who really know what they are... More

Ours was an enjoyable evening of delicious food and attentive service. 2 to 3 portions per person are probably enough. The waitresses knew their wines, which complemented the experience very well. I'd go again! Small groups or larger parties work well at Bell's Diner.

I went to this restaurant a couple of weekends ago with some friends for a birthday. I had never been before but I had heard very good things - it did not disappoint!! The atmosphere and service are both great. The food is absolutely delicious and it's great to have small plates so that you can share and try lots... More

To say we had a terrible dining experience at Bells would be an understatement. We arrived to find our Saturday night booking couldn’t be found. The male blond manager was offhand, snotty and dismissive “we have a miss-understanding” he said. No miss-understanding, you have lost our booking. We were given the table by the door, the table you sit as... More

Description
Bell's Diner and Bar Rooms in the latest incarnation of Bristol's beloved Bell's Diner, established here in 1976. The new team has its roots in Rocinantes and Quartier Vert and brings the same relaxed enthusiasm for getting knees under a table to eat, drink and have a good time. Our food is best described as Modern Mediterranean and is inspired by the robust, flavoursome cooking of Spain, North Africa, Italy and France in which top quality ingredients are treated simply and put together in clever combinations. Our dishes are designed for sharing and you can eat as little or as much as you want; prop up our bar with a little bit of something lovely or pull up a chair and eat like a king (or queen). Our drinks list has been carefully chosen to suit our food and our personality. As well as unusual grape varietals from interesting young producers, we have some classic wines from famously good winemakers. We put a modest cash margin on our prices rather than the usual restaurant mark-up, so all of them offer incredible value for money. We also have a small but perfectly formed list of craft beers, ciders and soft drinks from some of the best producers around.
