Visited the restaurant with my partner on our anniversary. We were met with a dark and atmospheric labyrinth, and served drinks whilst waiting for our table to be prepped (we arrived early). Cocktails were satisfactory. Food was tremendous. Wine superb. Staff were attentive and extremely...More

Delicious food with attentive and unhurried service. Located under a Weatherspoons, you would not know that this restaurant exists and whilst it deserves wider recognition, I would like to keep it as my little secret. A small menu of fresh and tasty food - no...More

Picking a quiet night (Wednesday) was probably a good move for my first visit to the Ox as there was no pressure to eat and leave in the allotted time scale. Steak is what you come for and my cut if choice (Ribeye) was cooked...More

Came here with 5 colleagues after seeing it was 2 minutes' walk from our hotel. The food was fantastic and the service was good. The actual restaurant itself is cosy and quite dark but that's part of the charm. We all really enjoyed it. I'd...More

4 of us went last night having heard good things about it. When we arrived and we're shown to our table we went to look at the menu but 3 out of 4 of us couldn't see it as it was so dark and dingy....More

Don't blink on Corn Street as you may actually miss the entrance to this great restaurant. Situated beneath Weatherspoons of all places this stylish eatery would not be out of place in downtown Manhattan. If steak's your thing then they have several cuts and a...More

Our final meal for our long weekend in Bristol. Smashing place, in a cellar underground- very atmospheric. A restaurant for carnivores. (There is a small veggie option). The steaks were cooked beautifully, the chips large and crispy and a nice choice of vegetables. Excellent! The...More

We visited The Ox for a late lunch on Sunday having had it recommended by a friend. What an absolute gem. You have to seek it out a little as it is a basement restaurant with an unassuming frontage but it's definitely worth it. The...More

First of all, loved the ambience of this place - muted lighting with individual lamps on each table, very intimate (if a little difficult to read the menu!). The early evening offer of rump steak, fries and a glass of (very nice) wine is fab...More

We first visted here when it opened, the early menu from 5 to 7 at £12.50 for a steak/fries/house wine was good value, we really enjoyed the steak and it was fantastic quality. We went back here yesterday and it was completly different. The price...More

I wouldn't recommend this as a restaurant for children. I'm not sure whether they specifically exclude kids, but I would chose somewhere else to go with my tribe. Still an A++ 5* for the grown ups though!
Is there an email address for the Clifton branch anywhere?I have booked a table for lunch on the 21st and wanted to let them know that we are celebrating a birthday & have an elderly relative with us who needs a 'good' chair!! She isn't huge( ! )just likes to feel secure 😎
