A big group of us booked the private dining room for our annual Christmas gathering and had a fantastic time! Great space for 14 of us, and would have happily accommodated a few more; good facilities (able to play our own music), and never felt pushed for time. The service was excellent, attentive and timely. Food was lovely, some of... More

Food: average to reasonable (an overcooked steak: fish and chips ok) -- cost: overpriced for what you get. Overall impression: disappointing -- and serving staff really should not - when service charge is "discretionary" - write on the bill what 10% amounts to and what their suggested total is. Customers can work that out themselves. It added to the impression... More

I ordered smoked salmon, crab and prawn cocktail for starter - what does this conjure up in your mind? What actually arrived was a bland puréed/mush of very little of the three stuffed into a rather hard tomato! What if you do not like tomatos? I do but I still couldn't eat it. The turkey dinner was Luke warm and... More

Went here with friends last night. We hadn't booked and they managed to squeeze us in. The food choices were varied and they were great value (2 courses for £17). I have to have a gluten free diet and almost everything was either gluten free or could be adapted to be so...all clearly labelled. The food was lovely all freshly... More

First time so no expectations other than 'good'. We were here early evening (before 7) which meant we were still on lunch menu deals. There was nothing that was awful just a few things which took off the shine: wrong sides, wrong size wine. I had ox cheek cottage pie, it just didn't sparkle! Nothing major just not great. Sorry.... Visited the Townhouse for the first time at lunchtime today, and was very impressed. The diners in my party were aged from 16-80 and all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The lunchtime menu, with 3 courses for £13.50 or 2 for £10 is great value for money. There's a good choice of dishes, including veggie and gluten-free. Service was friendly and... More

Had a fantastic roast dinner today!Delicious home made Yorkshire puds and all the veg was fresh and plentiful.Really refreshing to have a vegetarian option that had as much attention as the meat versions. The atmosphere was great, friendly and laid back - decor really suits the venue too. Will certainly be back!

Food and service was very good but there was a very long delay due to a large table upstairs. I think they should have accommodated for this with extra staff rather than making other tables wait to be served. It won't stop us visiting again though.
