We went to the Old Bookshop based on the recent reviews on trip advisor and we are very glad that we did. First of all the environment is really quite strange in pleasant way (as quirky as it comes). We agreed that we wouldn't want to be left alone in the dark here :-) as the fittings and fixtures have... More

This small bar/restaurant is very welcoming and has a great lively atmosphere. They now have a resident chef, who certainly knows what he is doing, and all of our food was excellent. There is also a good range of wines and interesting beers. A very pleasant spot to spend an evening!

Had an impromptu evening here... Great atmosphere and some awesome live music! There are some new chefs running the kitchen and the menu is exciting, different, delicious and great value. The brunch menu and an insanely delicious looking roast need to be tried. Had a few small plates, and they were all gorgeous. This place is one to watch...

My best-friend and our children introduced me to this place. They raved about how quirky this place was, how friendly the staff were and how good the food was. Well what can I say? This place is incredibly different! Idiosyncratic dining! Great food, great setting, great atmosphere, and great people! Love having my Sunday roast here, and feel immensely envious... More

We went to the old bookshop for dinner last night as we often do because they have a new pop up kitchen each month. Today when we went their pop up kitchen was "Izzy and Irie" which we haven't tried before. We had the sharing fish platter for £25 and it was delicious and just enough to fill the two... More

nice pub, not big so if you're planning on eating you should definitely phone ahead. Great Sunday roast and very reasonably priced (along with the wine list). Every month sees a new pop up kitchen serving the rest of the week so a great way to try different things.

Great service. My lad doesn't like spicy food and they only had Caribbean food on so it was going to be spicy. Very kindly they swapped the spicy pulled pork for chicken. The lad loved it. I had Jerk chicken which was lovely. Definitely will return.

Popped in for a beer and ended up having a tapas. The food was awesome. 3 tapas dishes for £10. We had the prawns and potatoes, honey meatballs and cheese and veggie croquettes. We also had sweetcorn and what my girlfriend described as 'the best ever' plantain. This place is really cool. We will be back

...and the joy of tapas is that once you have realise that it's so nice that you should have ordered more, it's totally acceptable to do exactly that!

The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. We have guest chefs and pop-up kitchens each month, so menu changes regularly. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We also serve delicious cocktails. Our smoking garden has a wood burner to keep you warm on chilly evenings.
