We popped in for a Sunday roast - both of us had the beef option. The beef was lovely, big, thick slice. The Yorkshire was huge and tasty, there was an onion purée that was tasty. The veg did need seasoning but there was only salt and vinegar seasoning on the table. The let down from the meal were the... More

Have had loads of roasts and this was a really good one but not the best and nowhere near for the money. We went in after three and the spuds looked great but were chewy, and ive always cured this by blasting them in the oven. Veg needed seasoning and generally apart from great pork there was nothing special to... More

Terrific! A really good pub with a decent choice of beer. The real star turn is the food though. We had a superb cold ham and pickle starter, followed by a really wonderful slow cooked beef shin. Too finish, a top quality lemon meringue. Some of the best food we have had in Bristol this year.

Great selection of draughts and spirits, lovely atmosphere, only let down by patronising and condescending service at the bar.

After being recommended to visit the star and dove by a few of our friends, we decided to give it a try! On arrival I needed to use the restroom, my partner asked the man behind the bar and he begrudgingly pointed towards the door, as I left my partner at the bar, the same bar man, grumbled "Are you... Visited for Sunday roast with our family having heard many great recommendations from other couples , How have we missed this great place so local to Southville just brilliant!, food was superb staff all seemed very friendly and helpful, we had booked because we had heard it gets very busy, probably could have got a table as although busy not... As a family of four this venue suited our needs. The service was a bit slow but the staff were attentive and polite. The food was generally good with the only gripe being my hake which was not cold but neither was it hot. Reasonable prices and decent ambience.

This pub does an amazing range of beer and craft ales, not to mention some seriously tasty gastro dishes. Even the bar snacks will impress, with possibly the best scotch egg I have ever tasted! Not to be missed.

The Star and Dove was highly recommended to us and on arrival the dining room and general ambiance seemed to confirm this. We were served by polite, helpful and attentive staff but the food, although generally well presented, was very disappointing. Of the four meals ordered we had to return one starter and two mains. We were refunded for these... More

Description
On the corner of St Lukes Road sits The Star and Dove – a smart, welcoming pub and a favourite among Bristol’s young and trendy locals. Downstairs, there are two separate bar areas where you can lounge around on comfy sofas; while upstairs in the restaurant, the parquet floors, royal blue walls and huge windows create a bright and airy space. There are separate menus too, with the bar menu offering classic pub grub and the restaurant menu serving up top-class European cuisine. As if that wasn’t enough, the kitchen produces a seasonal tasting menu on the first Thursday of every month. There’s a great outside space, a concise wine list and a good selection of draught lagers – what more could you ask for?
