What a first meal since going into tier 2. So good to get out. But even better to have such amazing food, wine and lovely service. Faultless, all of it. We left with massive smiles on our faces... and wanting more chocolate mouse - obviously...

This was our second trip to Boxe-E but the first in 2020 and the first post-COVID (which, for such a tiny space is handled incredibly well). The food was amazing; we shared starters of trout and scallops, I had the Duette beer which paired well...with the food. Mains were both a Hake with Black Rice. Also awesome. Thos restaurant is incredible value for money, beautifully relaxed and always pleasing. I’ll be rebooking and coming back because that’s what happens with great places to eat.More

We visited for a third time and were certainly not disappointed! The taster menu with wine flight is really good value for money and flavour combinations are exquisite. A truly talented chef doing what he does best. The waiting staff worked their socks off to...make sure the service was seamless. Thank you so much, we had a wonderful evening and will definitely return!More

My sister had dined here before and enjoyed the food. This is a very cosy restaurant as a converted seacontainer. Absolutely amazed at the quality of the food produced, wonder locally sourced seasonal ingredients British ingredients. Great food and wines, definitely some unusual food combinations...but it worked and I liked it. Suited all aged groups, but it is up stairs and toilets are downstairs and entry on the side via code. Would recommend and would definitely go again just need to decide who to take.More

The food was incredible and very good value for what it is, the chefs are obviously very talented at what they do. Sadly it was let down by the service. It wasn’t awful, but it definitely wasn’t great and we didn’t feel the waitress for...our table was very genuine or attentive. She didn’t walk us to our table on arrival (despite being the first ones there and it being round the corner out of sight), when asking us a question would walk away before we finished answering and only when paying for the bill did she suddenly seem a lot friendlier. I don’t want that to taint the view on the place or the food as that was all excellent and perhaps she was having a bad day, but from a customer point of view it did effect our overall experience of the restaurant as good service goes a long way.More

The staff were really lovely and attentive. We were unfortunately not able to secure a seat inside but sat outside due to social distancing. We ordered the trout and scallops for starters. The scallops were paired with corn which was an odd combination but went...with it. It just did not work. Then my partner ordered the fish and I ordered the guinea fowl as the onglet was not unavailable. Both meals were odd... as they had both been laced with salsa Verdi and just did not go with either meal. Very disappointed after a while since we’ve been out. Not sure what has inspired the strange combinations of food... definitely not up my street.More

Had tasting menu all courses full flavour , I hate cheese so was accommodated with no issues . Panacotta dessert and...hake were the stand out courses Wine flight was great and had wines I would never have considered so an education in itself.super friendly and informative staff, can’t wait to go againMore
