We were recommended to try this restaurant by Jerome at the Chateau we were staying in overnight, as on a Sunday the Chateau was not providing an evening meal.. It was quite busy for a Sunday and so it was lucky Jerome had organised a...table reservation for us.. The food was excellent and the amuse bouche and complimentary glass of Calvados started and ended the evening unexpectedly well..! :) We had heard the French cuisine was prepared by an English chef, and I had a nice chat with her and her multinational team at the end of the evening. Regrettably I failed to ask her name but I know she was born in Ireland, was brought up in Birmingham and had married a Frenchman..! Whatever, the food she provided could not be faulted..! We also liked the house champagne and the wine of the month, an excellent St Emilion.. All in all a great way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jill and I meeting in 1999.. :) Highly recommended! This is my go to restaurant in Normandy. We always try to visit when in France. The food is excellent, the service and staff so welcoming and friendly. No detail is too much. the range of food is excellent too. Best steaks and fois de...gras. Cannot fault it in any way!More

A little picturesque restaurant with an extensive wine list and a good selection of wholesome food. The omelette was very tasty and the chips the best I have ever tasted in France. The owner was very friendly and the staff wonderful and helpful we met...Bernadette in the kitchen after our meal for a quick chat finding that she was born in Birmingham. The atmosphere was very relaxed and they speak very good English (our French is appalling) I would definitely go back if we should come this way again Thank you for a lovely evening xMore

Nice to be back again, visited some years ago, food is still really good in a home-cooked style. We had the best asparagus I have ever tasted. Large portions of grilled beef and lovely fries. Welcoming feeling from the owners. Nice rustic atmosphere! Will always...try to come back here when in Normandy.More

We had one of our best meals in France at La Chaumiere. French country dining at its best, coupled with a fun staff (family owned) and delicious wine and calvados. What more could you ask for?

Discovered this excellent restaurant 11 years ago and have returned many times since, most recently for lunch on 22nd June 2018 en-route to Calais. Again we enjoyed a great lunch - melt-in-the-mouth calf's liver for her and wonderful sea bass for me. Bernadette and Remi...are lovely people and their restaurant is such a comfortable place to while-away a couple of hours over lunch/dinner. Each time we visit, it's such a pleasure to see them both again and catch up with their news. They have created a perfect eating place in the pretty village of Acquigny and we hope it remains the same for many years to come. We shall pop in again next time we pass their way. Very highly recommended.More

Charming place & lovely staff.Starters delicious but then a 2 hour delay until our main courses! 8 of us had booked in 2 days in advance as this restaurant had been highly recommended. We partly went there because one of the owners/chef Bernadette is Irish....Food was very good when it came but we were so hungry and fed up at that stage. An apology would have gone a long way to placate 8 Irish people on a tour of French gardens. Trish FarrellMore

Really good restaurant. Good wine list too, including the half-bottles that I need! Their Cote de Veau Normandie was absolutely excellent. Very friendly staff, but they do get into time trouble when the restaurant fills up ...

Charming restaurant in a pretty village, the atmosphere is very comfortable with friendly staff, and attractive amuse-bouche appetisers while you're waiting for your meal. Food is very tasty, with excellent ingredients. Welcoming experience and extremely good value, we will plan our route in the future...to pay a visit to La Chaumiere!More

We used Trip Advisor to find this restaurant during a trip to France. Group of 4. The food was amazing. The restaurant has great character and very busy on a Sunday night when we visited at a time when local people are off to vote...for their next President. Service was first class, the best veal I have ever tasted. Good menu choices. Good choice of wines. Go and say hello to the chef, she's lovely, even using the log fire in the restaurant to cook courses. I think the prices were reasonable. So if you find yourself in Acquigny, I highly recommend you visit.More

We found this restaurant quite by accident after leaving the motorway up to boulogne. The exterior looked delightful so we went in for lunch. Everything about our meal was a delight, excellent cooking and service and we were looked after very well indeed by the...owner. We would have no hesitation in giving this charming restaurant our best recommendationMore
