Was advised to eat here and wow was it worth it! We went too early and it was still closed, so it was a 2 hour round trip to go back there. Easily worth it.The staff there was great, very interesting and nice people. I had the ribs, ordered the full rack because I wanted leftovers. There were no leftovers.... More

As a party of 8, we were happily accommodated, even though they were juggling reservations, and other large groups. Because they were busy, they were unable to offer the appetizers in advance - they came with the main meal. The menu is a bit slim for kids (pizza or ribs) and only a few more for adults. There was no... More

That was quite a night! We're so happy that we could fit you in and keep you well fed. It's true that we offer a limited menu for kids, but we pride ourselves on two key ingredients: The kids meals are cheap(for the sake of the adults), and come without veggies(for the sake of the kids!) (although veggies ARE an... More

We visited the "Paw" again this past sat. night, aug.6 and enjoyed tasty desserts and a great coversation with owner Dave and Amy Newman and Richard Wright who are responsible for the Theatre Royal productions in Barkerville. To summerize ......no visit to Wells/Barkerville is complete without a rest at the Hubs Motel, a meal at the Bears Paw and the... More

We stopped in here for a bite to eat after going to Barkerville and had the best buffalo meatloaf and vegy medley ever. Big portion too. Friendly staff and we had music while we ate outside. They also have wonderful pie, we took a piece with us since we were full.

Isn't that great pie! Our signature dessert is our Cranberry Carrot cake with Cranberry cream cheese icing, but Laura Peterson makes incredible pies and pie-crusts. She and her husband own a 100 year old orchard and she hand-makes her own pies from her own fruit! We're the only restaurant in the Cariboo where you can get these pies! Yumm. More

Good service. Good food, limited menu on occasion. We would go back again. Barkerville Brewery beer available.

Thanks for your praise of the service and the food. We deliberately keep our menu small because we think that ensures the highest quality of fresh made food. We hope that it still covers all the food bases, and despite the size of the menu it manages to cover all the meat types, food groups and dietary issues, which are... More

We enjoyed a varied sampling of the menu. The days special, the ribs and finally the bison meatloaf. The restaurant itself is an eclectic and cozy. The decor was interesting from wall to wall. The food.... OMG.... It was amazing! You would expect to pay far more for the quality and portion sizes. Not a single member of my party... More

Thanks for the visit, and the kind words. We think every minute of your vacation should be part of the vacation experience, so we think eating should be more than just filling up with fuel. We're glad you had a great time, and look forward to the next visit! More

We had a busy day driving up to Barkerville and stopped for dinner. The menu was small but the choices were good for our big group. Prices are a bit high but imagine were paying for the distance and short tourist season. Definitely would go back again!

Thanks for stopping in and your nice review. We especially appreciate that you notice that the menu is both small and full of enough variety to feed even a big group. We make it all from scratch with fresh ingredients, and we think there's no way restaurants with large menus can do that. People are generally amazed that this much... More

We enjoy being available for snacks as well as meals, and that liquor laws now allow customers to simply enjoy a beer on the patio, without the pressure of eating as well. I hope you tried one of our Craft brews, and especially one from the great craft beers from Barkerville Brewery!! More

I eat at "The Paw" every time I am in Wells/Barkerville. Most recently I had a lovely salmon dinner and mooched some exceptional ribs from my dinner companions. The menu has a good variety and everything I have had has been beautifully prepared, well presented, and tasty. It is not the cheapest place to eat in town but I would... More
