There's nothing really outstanding about this place, but both the food and service are good. It's in a nice location for site seeing. If you're out and about and need a place to eat, this will do just fine.

My wife and I were passing through Cowichan Bay primarily to go to the bakery, when we were in need of finding somewhere for lunch. This can be a challenge as she is gluten intolerant and many places don't have much she can eat. We were very pleasantly surprised by this cafe which offers a whole range of gluten free... More

We arrived just before the doors opened. Ordered and the food arrived very quickly. It was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. The staff were very personable and friendly. I wish I took a picture of the mound of food but I ate most if it. The coffee was pretty good too. All and all a great place to eat. Highly recommend... More

As a celiac dining out is always a bit of a risk. It was a pleasure surprise to find that the Rock Cod Cafe has a menu designed for celiacs. I tried the fish tacos (which offers a choice of halibut or cod) with a side of the soup of the day. It was delicious. Definitely will return.

We read several reviews online, on here in fact, and decided it sounded pretty good. The one positive thing about our visit was the staff...they were efficient and fun. But the food? Uh uh. We ordered cups of the 'famous' seafood chowder. They were full to literally overflowing and apparently that was intentional but sure not to my liking. Neither... More

Loved the deep fried haddock and their soup of the day. Friendly staff, low key place. Early evening closure though. Good children's menu and good beer and cider on tap. This was my second visit.

We used to go to the Rock Cod Cafe more often when I was younger. I recently visited the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by my waitress' knowledge of food allergies and how helpful she was with answering questions about the food on the menu. As someone with a shrimp allergy, eating at a seafood restaurant seems quite reckless, but... More

We stopped at this cafe because it had been featured on "You Gotta Eat Here." The place wasn't busy so we got an excellent table and the waitress had all the time in the world to tell us about the specials, about her favorites (after we asked her) and about local information. The fish and chips my husband had and... More

I start drooling as soon as anyone speaks about the Rock Cod. I even took my wedding part to there. The halibut and fries are out of this world.
