Was welcomed on arrival and was shown to our table. We were then welcomed with a smile and asked if we would like any drinks. We were then shown the menus and all had beef/lamb roast dinners. Food was hot and the meat was so soft. Served with crispy roast potatoes, homemade Yorkshire pud, mixed roasted root veg and green veg. It also came with a side of cauliflower cheese, extra gravy and sauces. Our plates were cleared and we moved on to deserts where we had a generous serving of chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, apple & BlackBerry crumble with custard and everyone furtherly enjoyed it. Everyone on the table cleared their plates, main and deserts and were all satisfied. Have already recommend to friends and family and plan on booking another table soon. Great location, easy to find, free parking, friendly staff and good food. The toilets were also kept to high standards of cleanliness.
I can imagine this place thriving all year around especially in the summer time due to the location, tasty food and a wide selection of drinks. I would highly recommend you visit, you wont be disappointed!! :)

Our first visit and it was fabulous. I emailed in advance about my gluten intolerance and I had a reply straight away that the chef was aware. On arriving our waiter knew about it and they had sourced GF items especially, that is going above and beyond in my eyes. Best post parkrun brekkie EVER to boot as well !!! This was brilliant service and I am so appreciative !! Would highly recommend. Just drop them an email before for any allergies and they will happily help. We will be back.

Stopped in here for a family meal, and have to say was disappointed with the service, despite COVID restrictions the pub wasn’t overly busy with customers, as a family of ten we were able to spread our group over two tables in the garden and when ordering were told to order on the same table number, however the last two members of our party to order were then told that they were only serving booked tables from that point, so eight of our group had food ordered and the other two had to leave to find somewhere else to had ( kind of wish we all had) , food took an age to come out and nothing was served together, requested condiments on two occasions and got a curt “yep” in response. (And then still didn’t provide them) soggy batter on the fish, and chips without salt are pretty lame. The rest of the food was ok when it was eventually served. A shame for what could potentially be a lovely place to spend the evening. Won’t return in a hurry, there are a lot of places who would be grateful for custom right now

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch and wasn’t disappointed. Good choice of starters (which were delicious), when the mains arrived it was lovely to see the meat as the star of the plate. Really good ‘belt loosening’ portions with veg served separately. The cauliflower cheese was nearly as good as mine!!
Plenty of choice on the dessert menu and delighted to see Sherry trifle as an option.
The food overall was excellent but it’s the service and friendly atmosphere that raise it to another level.
In terms of value, I’m sure it’s not the cheapest Sunday lunch on the island but it is one of the best. Worth every penny!!

Took our father out for a meal on Father’s Day unfortunately for us it was a set menu with a lot of Asian influences for the starters unfortunately we all struggled. On to the main we ordered beef roast but they had run out so had to change our choices which when it came was warm at best. Dessert which my father looks forward to and always finishes (bread and butter pudding with custard) had been jazzed up with banana and whisky, he left half of it. Asked for a cappuccino but the coffee machine was not working, staff were polite and helpful but the service was slow. Used to love coming here for a meal but it has changed from fantastic good quality pub food to a miss match of tastes .

Arrived at 3.30pm and asked if food was still being served, answer was kitchen will re-open in 20 minutes, if you find table in garden we will take your order. A pleasant lad came and took our drinks order. I asked for the menu and was told another member of staff would be out with menus and take our order. At 4.10 I called out to the lad who first served us drinks and asked where the menu were, he returned to our table with two more drinks, I said we do not want drinks we want the food menu, but would keep the drinks if we were given a menu pretty quick, as we had waited long enough. He returned with a pizza menu saying that was all that was available. We declined and left, having paid for second drinks we did not want and did not drink. It was not made clear when first arriving that only pizzas would be available. We were clearly told that the kitchen would re-open in 20 minutes, and therefore expected their normal menu. We have eaten here before and the food was okay. But after this episode we shall not be returning again, or feel able to recommend.

Day trip to The Leas walked in to the Playa and booked a table for later that evening as we guessed it would get busy.
Spent the day on the beautiful beach opposite.
Picked up a delicious baguette from the playa takeout for lunch.
Then returned in the evening for a few cooling drinks in the spacious garden then fish an chip supper inside the restaurant which was also delicious.
Parking can be a little tight as The Playa gets busy. Although also free parking all along the sea front.
Staff were very friendly snd constantly asking if everything was ok if we needed anything.
The Playa was clean and following the distancing for COVID in a busy restaurant / Bar.
We will definitely be back.
Thank you 👍🏻

Table was booked for a party of eight for my partners birthday with her family. The main bar area was busy with there being a table of eight people and various other small tables occupied. After we sat down at our allocated table about a dozen other people came in to join the table of eight. To accommodate them they moved various people off their tables so that the large party could all sit together. We were asked THREE times whether we were ready to order our food and each time said "yes". However nobody came to take our order as they were fussing over the party of twenty who appeared to have pre-ordered their food. They appeared to be short staffed as when bringing the food out the bar was left empty. After an hour we left without having any food and it looked like others took the same action

We tried this place for a meal on our last night on holiday.
I ordered a burger with fries , while waiting for our food, the table next to us had problems with their food but we continued to wait.
Out comes the food looking well presented, when I took a bit out of my burger it was raw inside, the fries were rock hard and covered in grease and the colslaw was not edible. Of course I didn't eat it and the waitress seemed embarrassed but not shocked and offered to take it off our bill.
The place seemed run down , but certainly the food is nothing to write home about.

We have decided to explore British sea shores during the summer and discovered this hidden magical place.
We didn’t think anything of it at the first place but once the food arrived we discovered beautifully cooked food on very high level.
My 4 year old had fish and chips which was so beautiful and delicate with small touch of dill in batter. I had full English roast with amazing side dishes cooked to perfection.. desserts were divine too.
The price of the whole lunch was shockingly good too.
We definitely recommend and we will be back.

Took a spin from Essex and discovered this place by chance. Right on the seafront, so great views. A busy Friday lunchtime, but had a lovely table, friendly and efficient staff. Good selection on the menu, not cheap but worth it. Ample parking, guess it may get busy in the summer. Nice clean toilets. Good portion sizes generally, fish looked small but chunky rather than long, I had the steak and mushroom pie, very tasty. Good background music. A great choice.

I visited The Playa in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey on Friday evening on 21 of October. I was with a friend and we decided to eat which I must say was really pleased with the service food and live band playing. I would highly recommend here. I had sausage and mash which was not only professionally presented but tasted excellent with definitely high quality sausages. My friend had the mixed kebab and the generous portion tasted amazing. I am actually back here now and decided to write this review as I believe praise where due. Looking forward to my meal.
I wish to thank all the staff that work here and nice to see this still a pub in a fantastic location serving high quality food, good selection of drinks and live entertainment.
