Very disappointed to find this place closed! It was very highly recommended, travelled a long way and was not easy to find at all! There was nothing else in Buccheri!

When staying in the area you cannot miss this place in the mountains around Noto. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere rustic and cosy, everything is fresh and the menu changes continuously. The oil is award-winning, the patron is talkative and cultured, my wife and I had a splendid dinner, the pasta with truffles and the cannolo were superb. And... More

Our Backroads tour group started our tour here on a lovely late spring morning. It's obviously popular with locals. We had a set course menu with a refreshing Sicilian antipasto followed by two great pastas but the highlight was the outstanding cannoli - the best I ever tasted. We ate street side but the interior is charming as well!

We visited Sicily for weeks in November and stayed in Buccheri for 2 nights. All along our trip, we ate at many good cafes and restaurants, but by far, Osteria U Locale was the best one of them all! The freshest, local ingredients were used in each dish we selected. We enjoyed stinco (roasted pork shank) the most, it was... More

We were travelling to Pantallica and we got hungry. We decided to visit this restaurant. At the beginning it seemed very nice, but when we said we do not eat gluten, the owner was not so nice any longer. We ordered lamb and we were waiting 1 hour to receive few slices of meat which were disgusting. When we asked to... More

Last summer my husband and I attended Medfest in the little town of Buccheri. We wandered around in the morning until lunchtime and came across U Locale quite by accident. It was a real find! There was a special "medieval menu" for the festa and the food was quite delicious. We sat at a table outside and chatted with a... More

If you want real authentic Sicilian cuisine this is the place to go. Nothing but fresh local ingredients used. The dishes change frequently and the chef will come out and tell you what the choices are for that evening and also describe every component. Nestled away in a narrow cobblestone alley way the atmosphere and food will blow you away.... More

What an excellent meal. Swimming in the sea (November 2nd - Aranella) in the morning and lunch at Osteria U Locale one hour later in the hills. Great drive and day from Siracusa.

Hidden away in the wonderful and forgotten town of Buccheri, was there in wintertime, rainy and spooky atmosphere, like an unique filmset, by nighttime a real forgotten gem! We had dinner here, it was delicious, so pure, simple basic but pure food. The ambience is wonderful, rustic and a bit excentric, like i want to see a country restaurant, the... More

I visited this restaurant at the end of the lunch hour with a few friends. We shared appetizers and each had our own pasta. The appetizers were beautiful. The owner brought out a plate of raw mushrooms to show us the mushrooms and also there was a plate of fresh pasta samples to show us in order to choose. My... More

Inland Syracuse, where they meet three provinces of South-Eastern Sicily, lies at the foot of Mount Laurel (the highest mountain of the Mountains Iblei), a small village full of traditions and popular culture. In the geographic center of the country, where bars and alleys meet creating a medieval atmosphere, punctuated by baroque churches, is a place that has managed to combine during the years the aromas and flavors that time and the pace of modern life take us away.
