When I first booked (by phone) I had estimated that we would be 15-20 in number. As it was a nice day on the day, it turned out there were 26 of us. We took our food order in at 10am today before starting the walk: a wide variety from the menu, and said we would be back at about... More

A nice pub with a great interior and exterior with friendly staff. However the food let it down as there was a long wait and the menu wasn't very in depth, as a bit of a fussy eater I was slightly disappointed the menu didn't include some of the items inside the burger. The chips were good however the burger... More

Called in here after a long walk. Lovely welcome and very friendly. Good choice of food on the menu and when it arrived we weren't disappointed. Large portions and well presented. Nice atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

After a lovely 2 hour walk we visited the Ship Inn for lunch. We were told that the Ham Hock would take 40 minutes so we ordered something else. After waiting 45 minutes, without the waitress even coming to apologise for the wait, and she kept looking at us. Chatting away with her mates. I had to get up and... More

Cheryl I apologise for you not being informed of any delay on your order, it happens that on very busy weekends and bank holiday's that priority is given to booked tables, and walk-ins are informed on ordering if there is a delay, as all food is freshly prepared to order. If this was not the case then I am sorry... More

7 of us had a variety of dishes eg black pudding scotch egg! King prawns, rack of lamb, sirloin steak, ploughman's platter, trifle, chocolate brownie. All were very good or excellent.

Excellent menu, food cooked superbly, friendly and pleasant staff. The Fish and Chips are to die for !!! A little out of the way but don't let that deter you.

The food at the Ship Inn was such high quality, this is definitely worth a visit. The black pudding scotch egg was my particular favourite.

We booked a table for 10 for a bank holiday Monday. We all ordered a good range of meals and we all enjoyed them. It's not the cheapest place but it's good quality pub food. As others have said its dog friendly. We reserved a table due to the size of our party but I'd recommend reserving anyway as it... More

We called in at The Ship Inn a few weeks ago for a drink and checked out the menu. We dined there last night, the place was buzzing, a great atmosphere. The food was excellent and the service was likewise. I spoke to the owners who told me they were having a new winter menu starting in October. Can't wait... More

I visited The Ship three times in three days as we were staying nearby with no car. It's a friendly pub, dog friendly with decent beer. Food is good, not amazing but everyone left happy. The chicken burger is very good, especially with (good quality) bacon and cheese - fries are bog standard out the freezer, could do better. The... More
