I've been privileged to enjoy sushi in some of the finest spots around the continent (including Sushi Ran in Sausalito) and Yamagoya ranks right up there. The West Fernie roll (beef) and the Lobster roll, for example, combine great tastes and textures. Nothing bland or average here, even a decent beer selection. Be prepared for a line up on weekends... We have eaten here many many times and have never had a bad meal or poor service. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food is fresh and delicious.

Great sushi, in a nice old house. Good size patio for those hot summer nights. This is a busy spot on the main street on Fernie and for anyone who loves sushi it is a must. They make some very good, very spicy, and unique rolls. The beef tataki had some great dried garlic and was served deconstructed, which I... More

Every time I pass through Fernie I stop at this sushi restaurant. I'm never disappointed. Be sure to make a reservation ahead if you are a large party or would like to sit in the traditional Japanese seating areas.

Great sushi restaurant! Easy to find with lots of nearby parking. Traditional Japanese interior. Lots of menu choices. Best sushi in Fernie!

This restaurant is so fresh... It's like you are dining on the coast! They offer Road 13 wine local from the Okanagan which pairs well with your house salad and steak and chi sushi.

Just because you're in a small mountain town doesn't the sushi is bad. The fish is fresh, the menu has all the expected options but, they've thrown in a few interesting creations all their own. (ie, Fernie Roll). Restaurant is situated in a nicely refurbished 2000 sq ft house. Outside (semi covered) patio gives you a patio option as well.... More

Here is basically the summary: wait 45 min for a table get treated like crap while waiting for not ordering drinks get seated at the bar with your 12 yr old daughter because no tables are available (unless you are only two people in which case you're in luck) bring food out at random intervals so one person is always... well worth the wait, the sushi dinner for 2 was amazing and the beer was a plus.....wishing it wasn't so loud as we came in from a long road trip and wanted a quiet place to enjoy supper before we headed back out.
