Probably the best Japanese food outside of Vancouver you'll get. Always fresh. Hate that I can't book though, so we always end up arriving before they open to queue to get a seat. Worth the wait, though!

The servers were fun and lovely, the drinks were delicious, the sushi was delightful! I'm coming back, but maybe I'll wait until town becomes a little less busy! It's a hot spot.

No one ever believes it until the go, but Yamagoya is putting out some of the best Fish on this side of the country. Still has a local vibe, the fact that you have to line up to get in and it's always packed is telling. Yummy

Yamagoya is known for its sushi and I now understand why! Our dishes were amazing and the fish used seemed to be of quality. Be ready for a wait to get in during peak seasons. We waited for 30 minutes for two people at 8:30 in the evening! The service was slow at the start but was great once we... More

Went to Yamagoya right after skiing one day. However, we were unable to get in until about 830-ish - but it was definitely worth the wait. The sushi is amazing and not overly expensive. If you plan on going one night, definitely go ahead as they do not take reservations!

Amazing food and friendly staff. Best sushi I've had for many years. Nice selection of local beers as well.

The foods good, and you won't go home hungry. Prices aren't too bad, but it's not all you can eat. Can't book reso's so make sure your there at a good time to get a table. Fresh and made to order so can't complain.

We originaly wanted to go to a different place, but they were closed, so we ended up here. Glad we did. We got the sushi for two and loved most all of it. The the best we've had, but a great time in a small town. Service was...there, nothing extrordinary. I would go again.

They say that the best sushi in Calgary is in Fernie, and they're not wrong. All the usual favourites plus a few local twists. The real thing, though, is the setting. So many Asian eateries have neon lights and totally unwelcoming interiors. Yamagoya is all dark and cosy with funky art. Only downside is the popularity means it is always... More
