This is a beautiful spot for a special occasion and the ambiance is very nice but unfortunately it was spoiled by the fact it took 45 minutes to get our food. I asked our server and she said "Everyone came at once" but she didn't try to make up for it by taking our (non alcoholic) drinks off our bill or one of our meals. This shows they don't care whether someone returns or not (or gives a bad review). Too bad as I would have come back but not now. There is nothing I dislike more than a very late meal when you are very hungry.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. I am sorry to hear that it took so long for your meals to arrive. Our kitchen can get overwhelmed at times but a manager should have stopped by to speak with you about the situation. I will be sure to review our procedures with my crew. I hope you decide to give us another try soon. Sincerely,

Come here for the reasonably-prices appetizers and drinks during happy hour and enjoy a beautiful view of the Sooke marina. They have heaters on the outdoor patio in cooler weather. The West Coast Grill is located in the Prestige Hotel and has free parking out front in a lot along the main highway.

Been a year or so since I have at West Coast Grill in Sooke. Picked up my Granddaughter for Lunch today and asked where she wanted to go…she said let’s go to the West Coast Grill as she likes their Chicken and Fires which she ordered WTH she is 14 and still working on her Palate I ordered the Wild Mushroom Bisque and the Tuna Club Sandwich with Salad. The Bisque was very tasty and recommended just wish they would put 2-3 more ounces in the Bowl for that price. The Tuna Club Sandwich was Outstanding and I highly recommend it if you pop in for Lunch. Such a great setting beside the water, staff are friendly and prices are well the prices are what they are our bill was Approx $80.00 we both had Ice Tea and split the Layered Cheesecake which wasn’t too sweet and was a nice finish to the meal. We will be back, Buffa & Gus

We ate here 3 times while staying at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort because we did not want to drive. We had breakfast twice and dinner once and neither of us enjoyed any of the meals. The dinner was a hamburger with salad and a fish chowder. The hamburger was mushy and the fish chowder was runny. Our breakfasts consisted of a ham and cheese omelette which tasted like powdered eggs and a chorizo hash that was greasy. We also had the chicken and waffles which was actually quite good but a very small portion for the price. The service was great but the food quality was not what you would expect at a resort motel.

My family was visiting Sooke for a few days and we stopped by West Coast Grill after a walk on Whiffen Spit for a late lunch on Canda Day. We were impressed by all the staff, but especially Kellie who was our server. She made great menu suggestions and was so kind. The food was delicious and we'll certainly stop by next time we visit.

I've been a few times because it's one of the only places in Sooke that has some gluten free options (I have celiac disease). But, I wont lie, it's always stressful, some of the servers seem to be knowledgeable others not so much. Inconsistency is a big issue for us with celiac disease. I haven't been sick, so that's a positive! I find lunch easier than breakfast. Wish we had more options in Sooke and wish West Coast Grill had equally trained and knowledgeable staff when it comes to allergies and food restrictions.

Hello Thank you for the feedback. We have a strong "allergy training procedure" and will be sure to review with everyone. We do take all allergies and dietary restriction to heart and do everything we can to accommodate. If our serving staff is not 100% sure of an allergen, they will always check with our chef and report back to you. I hope we get to see you again some time soon.

The only good thing was the "Bucket of Shrimp" which are actually prawns. The duck wings were so over cooked you could not even taste the meat just a crispy sauce. My wifes steak was burnt and the potatoes were cold. Good atmosphere if the waitress didn't have other things on her mind. As she checked in on our table it was as if she had more important things to do other than serve my family. It took nearly 20 minutes just to get a beer and when asked for another was asked if I would like something different. Apparently they ran out of that specific type and couldn't get anymore. Was not impressed with the WC Grill I'm glad we had gift card as I would not spend the $180 of my own money there. Save a few bucks and try one of the food trucks in Sooke!

Ok to be fair maybe 3 out of 9 meals were OK! I tend to complain more than my wife so when she said something to the waitress about how bad the mushy unrecognized fish they used for fish and chips was we were all stunned. Sooke is known as a fishing community with some of the best cod and Halibut in the world, to be told they would have to charge a lot more for good fish to be able to serve it we were shocked . This was already the most expensive Fish and chips I have ever bought. This is a restaurant in the Prestige Hotel that should be trying to impress visitors so they come back and not scare them away. As this was not the first bad meal here I will never go back and asked the kids to hit me over the head with a brick if I forget and suggest it one day. Maybe if they change management or acknowledge this review and improving I would try again. As of now I tell everyone to stay away. Beautiful setting with ocean view it’s really disappointing knowing I live here.

Hello Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Our sincere apologies for missing the mark on the fish and chip and especially on your birthday! I feel horrible that this happened to you. We do use cod for this dish as halibut has become too expensive to use for our fish and chips these past 2 years. We sincerely hope that we can redeem ourselves next time you are in town.

Decorated in a maritime style and very spacious. You are seated. Our host spoke poor English and was very distracted. The food was average. The warm baguette with the burrata was swimming in balsamic vinegar and was practically inedible. The chips with the prawns were very dark. The salmon in the main course was much too dry. The risotto was mushy. Steak was good and so was the halibut. Unfortunately the wines didn't arrive until we had already eaten half of our food. The desserts are gigantic. Definitely share. Unfortunately there is no espresso.

The West Coast Grill offers the only elegant dining room in Sooke. Outdoor seating on the patio affords wonderful views of the water and the marina. Prices are mostly fair given the appointment of the dining room, but the restaurant often falls short in other respects. This year we ate one breakfast and two dinners there. Breakfast of Eggs Benedict was great, and the service was delightful. Unfortunately, the two dinners left us disappointed to a degree that we probably won’t return. First of all the noise both inside and outside on the patio resembled that of a sports bar. Not the stuff of fine dining, but only to be expected from an establishment that styles itself as a family restaurant. The menu is not very broad. One night we wanted a light meal and a dessert. We chose a dish of clams and mussels, which was significantly overpriced for the amount of food, and the Stick in the Mud dessert fell short of what we remembered from the year before.

Good Day Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am glad to hear you had a good breakfast. I appreciate your comments about our dinner service. Our high volume season is Mid June to end of September and when the dining room is full along with the patio it can definitely be a little loud. For your next visit I would like to suggest if you are wanting lighter faire to look at our Vault Sports Lounge menu as it does offer a few different items. I hope we get to see you again some time soon.

First off I have to say the staff of this restaurant are amazing. They are soo nice and helpful with recommendations and suggestions with the menu. Shout out to the server Stephaney who made the BEST drinks (especially her Shaft omg just ask for her’s specifically), talked us through the menu when we noted a food allergy, and was attentive any time we needed something! The food here is amazing and since we live in Sooke this is our go to spot anytime we have a special occasion or want to impress guests from out of town… and whenever we’re craving their seafood steamer pot and garlic bread lol

Restaurant is located in nice looking hotel (we didn't stay here, but looked really posh) overlooking the water. Interior of the restaurant matched the hotel, but unfortunately the food didn't measure up . The share bucket of steamed seafood was undersized for a share bucket, steak dinner was certainly not worth the price paid. But the wine was good

We had both lunch and dinner at the West Coast Grill. We were checked for vaccination cards and ID at the the checkin. My wife was in a wheel chair at the time and we were treated very courteously and well. The service was excellent and the ambience looking over the water was superb. For lunch we ordered crab cakes. My wife ordered the crab dip with taco chips and I ordered their hamburger and fires. All of it was excellent. That evening we could find no other place that was open and served cod fish and chips. We both ordered the fish and chips and I asked if the chef could change the order from cod to halibut. I was assured that they could but there would be a surcharge which I expected. The fish and chips were very good and the batter was just right and the fish flaky and tasty. .The halibut portion was large but when the bill came there was sticker shock - an extra $16.00 for the halibut on top of the original price. Not impressed with that!

Good Day Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. I am glad to hear you enjoyed a few meals with us. I apologize for the unexpected amount that was charged for the Halibut. There is a significant price point and portion size difference between the cod and the halibut. I do hope we get to see you again soon, we have since added a few more dishes, one of them being a halibut dish that has been getting rave review. I look forward to see you both very soon. Kindly Valerie

My husband and I were staying at the hotel where the West Coast Grill is located so we thought we would have dinner at the restaurant. So happy we did. From the moment you walked into the restaurant you were made to feel welcomed. Our server Janina was fantastic from her lovely smile to how she interacted with us. My husband had the steak which he very much enjoyed and I had the Asparagus & Arugula Chicken Cesare Salad. It was so delicious. For dessert, I had the chocolate and donuts and hubby had the Bread Pudding, again fantastic. The atmosphere is lovely we ate on the deck and it was so beautiful. I would recommend this place and I look forward to returning again.

3-6pm is the happy hour; you get $5 off the shared plates and select drinks (see happy hour drink menu in pictures). The view of the harbour is fabulous, ocean hills and mountains! The service staff are friendly, professional and attentive. The facility is clean and respects covid protocols. We enjoyed some appetizers and drinks - really great way to spend an afternoon! The three cheese dip and truffle fries are recommended!
