Fabulous poutine. Great home-cut fries (not frozen). Excellent gravy, real cheese curds. Very clean dining area.

If you want a quick lunch or friendly English-speaking ordering, this is a good spot. Seating inside is limited and there are a few picnic tables out back and on the front sidewalk. Many were ordering poutine. The chicken salad was not the type of...salad I anticipated. It was shredded sliced chicken on top of lettuce with a side of dressing.More
Our friend from the area explained this as the best poutine in the area and it did not disappoint. I tried the original poutine and was very pleased with the generous amount of cheese. My wife ordered the Montreal smoked meat one and got a...lot of smoked meat. A regular size is enough for a hungry person but you may want to consider a petite if you just want a taste. There isn't much room inside but there are tables in the front and back. You could also take your poutine to go as there are many places to sit nearby the restaurant.More
A classic diner with amazing poutine and quite frankly one of the best Montreal smoked meat sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The counter server was personable and really helpful and helped me through my mediocre French. I highly recommend this joint to anyone...that needs a poutine fixMore
Best poutine in town. Great hot dogs & fries too, smoked meat sandwich is also excellent. The burger is just 'meh' - definitely wouldn't come here for the burgers. As for some of the other comments, this is not meant to be healthy food -...it's a hole-in-the-wall greasy-spoon Québecois experience. And it's goooood.More
Awesome little cantine on Main Street in Magog. Known for it’s poutine, Chez Paul is the place to go!! Whether you are trying poutine for the first time or are a die-hard fanatic... does not disappoint.
When I heard that Cantine Chez Paul had some of the best poutine in Quebec, I had to see for myself - especially since my dining companion was uninitiated into the pleasures of this Quebecois delicacy. We were not disappointed. The fries alone would have...been delicious, but topped with a tasty gravy and rich, creamy curds it was absolutely divine. We got the poutine with the very reasonably priced dinner special, which included two hot dogs. Please note that only Canadian currency is accepted. There is an ATM a half a block away on the opposite side of the street. Kudos to the one woman behind the counter who ran the whole show.More
I don’t speak French, but the staff and I managed with some humor. The smoked meat sandwich was delicious and the poutine was the best I’ve had in Quebec yet. It’s an old fashioned local place and they make excellent traditional French Canadian fast food.
Had early breakfast here with family of 5 after driving for 1.5 hours. Very friendly owner/cook, directed us to the closest ATM as he only takes Canadian debit cards so we could get cash. Split 2 orders onto 3 plates for our 3 kids and...brought extra free fruit for the kids. Highly recommend for simple but good breakfast: eggs, omelette, French toast, bacon, home fries.More
Went by reviews on this eatery and what a BIG disappointment. We can bypass the insulting remarks and laughter in not being able to order our meal in French, but the crap served to us was nothing short of 'pig slop'...period. We went in with...a positive attitude thinking this will be just the thing we needed after 10 hours driving here...Mistake #1. Mistake #2 is that when the meal arrived, we never requested our money back. The fries were recycled in the dirty grease most likely 2-3 times before served to us and the burger was just an imitation of a McDonald's burger just a lot greasier and a lot nastier. So should you wish to avoid an immediate bowel movement or wish to avoid a complete 'BOTTOM BURP', stay clear of this joint. Bottom line, if you speak anything other than French and wish to have the rest of the day feeling good, stay clear of this eatery.More
This is a place full of locals. Cook already knows what everyone wants. Great local color owner puts on a show as he cooks and serves all the customers at the counter. Breakfast is very good, and reasonably priced. Eggs, crepes and French toast.
We stopped by chance to find the best french fries we’ve eaten in a very long time. Employees very friendly. Don’t miss it if you are in Magog
I had some friends take me there to “experience” Chez Paul - I was made aware of the standard before entering and I knew that I wasn’t here for a healthy, usual meal. Instead I ordered some Hot Dogs and a small plate of poutine......I guess you have to get used to it... Nice staff, decent service.. I suggest you don’t stay there too long.More
I can recommend this place for somebody who wants to eat authentic poutine. Huge portions & friendly people.
Just had a quick breakfast Coffee and toast with strawberry jam and peanut butter. Cheap eats. Pleasant staff
