Great local fare, loud but fantastic music, quick & friendly service. All around great afternoon place to spend time with family and or friends.

We went here for early dinner. We had the trifongo with pork chops and it was delicious. We also have the steak with onions. all the food was great.
We drove from Dorado to Guavate upon the recommendation of the hotel staff. I like to taste the famous Puerto Rican lechón and everyone we talked to recommended this place. I am from the Philippine and we have a lechón also.
There are many places to eat in Cayey, on the Pork Highway. We chose Los Pinos because the line was shorter. And there was no loud music! Just the loud cars driving by. The food was plentiful and tasted very good.
A visit to Guavate is a must for foodies in Puerto Rico. This town is full of Lechonera’s which serve traditional mouthwatering Lechon (roasted pig). However, once arriving, it’s overwhelming to decide which one to visit. Lechonera Los Pinos is seemingly the most popular because...it was featured by Anthony Bourdain years ago but I ultimately chose to visit here because family living in the area also recommended it. Yes! Lechonera Los Pinos lives up to the hype! The Lechon was some of the best I have ever tried: super tender, meaty and juicy with juicy crisp skin. However, the additional menu items were also phenomenal. I had flavorful and savory Arroz con Gandules, tender and citrusy Ensalada De Pulpo (octopus), starchy Pasteles De Masa filled with tender pork, rich, flavorful and savory Morcilla (blood sausage), and lightly sweet and starchy Batata (sweet potato).More
Service very slow. By the time I paid for the order, the food was cold. In addition, no price list displayed anywhere, you don't know what you are paying until you get to the cash register. Based on this experience, it is very unlikely to...return to the establishment. Very dissapointed!!!More
Fantastic!! Service and food was great. An original great spot. I highly recommend! The lechon was crispy and delicious. The Pina Colada was on point!!
Visited Guavate after almost three years away due to earthquakes, pabdemic, etc. I was VERY disappointed with the quality and flavor. My pernil is well known and taste 100 times better. A friend from Cayey makes cuajos and all the other complements that taste 10ry...blend just like hospital meals. The flan was ok, my wife makes killer flans of all types, tembleque and more 100 times better. Guess this is my last trip to Guavate which has become overated and over-priced.More
While some may find it strange that a person who travels to dine does not watch “Food Television” the fact remains, but on the same day as a trip to El Yunque National Forest the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico’s famous “Pork Highway” proved impossible...to resist. Locally known as La Ruta del Lechón, a dozen or more Restaurants at elevation on a winding road in Guavate, it is following the 45 minute drive from San Juan that travelers will find Lechonera Los Pinos, a bit of rain and pandemic precautions seeing few guests at 9:30am even though staff and Food were ready to go. Found along Route 184, stories of visits by Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain prominent across Social Media, it is from the parking lot that the smell of cookery becomes prominent, the friendly all-Spanish servers helping first-timers navigate a menu loaded with Proteins and Starches. Open air and spacious, the sort of place already designed for spreading out long before “social distancing,” it was after watching an older man hack bits of Pork from the whole Hog with a machete that seats were taken, Los Pinos’ Lechon perfectly seasoned with rendered Fat glistening beneath skin that shatters like glass with a smoky finish. More than just Lechon Asado, Rice with Pigeon Peas and sides of Sauteed Plantains plus tender Yam also delicious, those in search of more Pork will do well to order both garlicky Longaniza and boldly flavored Blood Sausage with Rice before wrapping up with individual Tres Leches in a small aluminum cup.More
Pork Highway had major hype. This was best of an average lot. You would get better BBQ at many places in US. OVERATED
Food was terrible.Pork was so dry it was not edible. Food was not cooked thru. No service . Do not waste your money
We were a bit confused on how to order when arrived. They have mainly pre-made food items behind glass that you direct the server to. There was a woman at the cash register that we just explained what we wanted and she got. We had...the rice with pigeon peas, plantains, beans, smoked pork and pork sausage. It was all quite delicious. The band started playing and more people arrived and were dancing. It is a very lively place!More
Resisted the urge to stop at quite a few other lechonera’s. Arrived in early afternoon. It wasn’t busy but you could tell that they were used to crowds. Roasted pig, beans, rice and plantains. It doesn’t get any more PR then that. It was delicious...and a unique experience. I would definitely find the road of lechonera’s again!More
A Puerto Rican institution with mouth watering pork and all the options you can imagine. High up in the windy hills of Guavate, seated in the midst of a weekly carnival of pork, salsa and mariachi music, Puerto Ricans enjoying their day off, and the...beauty of the hillside country, this is one of the best of a series of lechonera in this town built around the island's love of roasted pigs. It has been a regular feature of our party's visits to the island for the last decade and never disappoints (except when we fail to order enough to have sufficient left overs to add the delicious morsels to our meals back at our Rio Grande beachfront condo (like this year). Don't forget to try to the great blood sausage, sample many of the local specialties. We can all argue about which stateside BBQ is best, but this is the most succulent pork ever.More
A jewel in the mountains of Cayey this place had all the food I was craving for since I left home. The roasted pork was cooked just perfect, full of flavor with meat tender but crispy outer parts. The rice with pigeon peas, blood sausage,...pasteles, cuajito, and other cold salads did not disappoint and made my palate happy at heart. All top off with a good beer and followed by a delicious coconut flan. Good parking, clean restrooms and polite staff added to the charm of this place.More
