Booked a table for lunch / afternoon tea as an alternative stop en route home back from a holiday in Wales. I understand that they had a few challenges to deal with during the day which may have impacted our experience. That said there wasn’t...a great welcome or attempt to manage customer expectations so there was an understanding that there could be delays so you felt you were being looked after. Took about an hour for food to be served - afternoon tea x 2, fish finger and a tuna sandwich. Two meals arrived first with no cutlery or sauces offered, which had to be chased together with the afternoon teas which arrived 10 minutes later. Food itself was ok bar the sandwiches on the afternoon tea where some were a little dry as if they’d been sitting around a while. Then trying to pay took a long tine as the card machine was down, left a little in limbo and had to wait around 30 minutes before finally being able to process my card payment. By this point there was a queue forming of other guests who were trying to pay. Maybe we visited on an off day as chose the place based on reading previous reviews. Hope that’s the case because the setting and location was very convenient.More

We turned up on a busy Bank holiday Monday without a booking. Although it was full inside, there is ample outdoor seating with great views on Somerset and South Wales. It was very busy, so service was a bit slow. However, the cooked breakfast was...well worth the wait.More

We sourced the restaurant due to wanting a cup of tea when we couldn't check in to The Crown, down the road until 6pm - well, what a find ..... we ended up with the next 2 dinners & breakfast there as the staff were...so accommodating & friendly, as well as the food was amazing (much said when husband is so fussy) - I can only thank the waiting staff and chef for adapting their menu to suit my husband, we really did strike lucky! Value for food? 100% - not often my husband, when asked, "how was your meal?" responds with, "good, very good, spot on" - lucky to get a, "it was okay" says it all - thank you all so much for making our weekend away, during this pandemic, delicious & safe :)More

Lots of parking outside, this is a cozy venue inside, and out back is a lovely open air seating area with amazing views. Service was prompt and friendly. I had ham eggs and chips to eat, the slice of ham was fried for some reason,...then festooned with greenery. Very odd. The chips were delicious though. For some reason, for my order of tea, hot water was poured into a teapot, and the teabag was left on the side of the saucer. NOT the way to make tea!More

My husband and I visited the Tollgate tea room on Sunday afternoon 9th August and was not disappointed. We was welcomed by such a lovely young lady with a big smile who asked us where we would like to sit, inside or outside. With the...weather being so good we went outside and was shown tables where we could sit. All tables spaced well apart and hand sanitiser every where for you to use. Menus are in plastic wallets and wiped clean in between customers as I understood it. The views are fantastic the atmosphere light, friendly and relaxing all the food that came out looked delicious. My husband had a fish finger sandwich but is actually came in a bun (much better) with chips and I had the sweet potatoes falafel salad. Both meals delicious and large. My husband had the loose leaf tea which comes in a pot and I had breakfast tea which came as a tea bag and hot water so I could choose how strong I wanted it. The chef and owner came out several times to ask people if everything was ok which I thought was very good. This is such a welcoming place. Lovely staff, beautiful views and fabulous food made to feel very welcomed and nothing to much trouble most definitely go there again and would 100% recommend this fabulous place ❤️❤️ The Cornish’sMore

We had a lovely evening with the most delightful view and sunset. Two of our group had pizzas which were lovely. My Son has falafel burger and chips the rest of us had salads which we enjoyed very much. The desserts were very enjoyable if...I were to criticise one thing it would be that that the raspberry chocolate cheesecake Brownie was a little dry would have been lovely with some ice cream or cream. The mango cheesecake ice cream went down well with those that had it. Spoke to the owner who was very obliging as were the staff. Lovely place to take dog which we did. And ideal place to take children.More

I had a Savory afternoon Tea with coffee and cake. The sandwiches and Scones were out of this world they were the best finger sandwiches i have ever eaten. The scones were served warm with cream cheese and Chutney. The staff were friendly and service...was A+. The self isolating rules were clear and concise with social distancing measures in place. On top of all this the outside space is huge with amazing views on a good day you can see the severn bridge.More

It is a very small place with little to no room for social distancing, there were 15 people in the small conservatory packed onto 4 small tables. None of the staff were wearing masks or face shields and only one member of staff was wearing...gloves but they did not look clean. We were given a menu in a cover which did not appear to have been wiped down between each customer. The food was okay but the service was slow and drinks took a long time to arrive once someone finally took our order. They should really consider the safety of their staff and customers.More

I had the ham egg and chips and my other half the fishfinger sandwich and chips with the cracked black pepper really complementing the flavour. The chips are cooked in really fresh oil and were awesome. The quality of the food is excellent Their fishfingers...were as far from a birdseye as can be. Cooked in that wonderful oil with a fabulous batter. Washed down with a bottle of Bath Gem ale followed by loose leaf tea and a Bristol Twenty cappuccino. Great value for money too.More

It's a small establishment and I doubt they operate a booking system. Just turn up, you won't be disappointed
