We went here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The food was very nice and I have to say wasn't badly priced either. We all enjoyed the meal and the service was fair to good. Our server didn't bring our starter we ordered but didn't charge us for it so may have been an over site.

The historic preservation of this old hotel is stunning. Like a trip back in time. But the food and the service are completely up to date and excellent. The roasted brussel sprouts were the best I've ever had.

We enjoined a lovely meal whilst listening to live music, not loud, thankfully, but our singer had a beautiful voice.

food and service are always top notch and the fellow softly playing music in the background set up an ambiance that is perfect for a small group out for a celebration evening

Family was visiting from Japan and Nelson was a stop for dinner on our tour of the area. We were going to go to another restaurant but decided the Library was our choice. The food was very good. The steak was cooked very well. The ravioli was delicious and the child's Mac and cheese was a large portion. The fish... More

Usually restaurants ranked #1 come along with amazing food. We were disappointed by the average dinner fare. Service & atmosphere were good though.

We are sorry that we did not impress you more. With a menu as large as ours, typically there is something for everyone. I hope you will give us another shot at some point. There are lots of new menu items from the latest launch that have been very popular with our guests. Thanks for the feedback. More

This morning we (3 adults) thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at the 'General Store'. The new menu is the best ever! We each ordered a different version of the breakfast Benny. The poached eggs were all perfect(soft) & tasty with bright yolks. The English muffin was crisp & light not the usual stodgy, soggy version found in many breakfast restaurants. The Hollandaise sauce... The food is good. It's consistent and the menu is quite varied, so there's lots of choice. I really like the authentic Doukhobor borscht which is hearty and reasonable. The ambience is what sets this place apart though: on the corner in the historic Hume Hotel, it's full of character and a gentility that smacks of a bygone age. Chairs... More

Normally I don't eat in restaurants that have music. I love music and I love food, just not simultaneously. However, the Hume Hotel is a Nelson landmark and one simply must stop in for a meal. There are several restaurants in the hotel and all have the same menu. I chose the Library Lounge for it's turn of the 20th... More

Hi Barbara. Thanks for your review. It sounds as though you enjoyed the majority of your visit with us. One thing I wanted to point out was that we offer both a 6oz and a 9oz pour for our wines by the glass. A 6oz glass of the Canepa is $11 and for a wine of this caliber, I feel... More

Description
The Hume Hotel has three different food outlets to eat in that offer the same menu and a vast array of food. A family restaurant called the General Store, an intimate fireside lounge featuring live jazz called the Library Lounge or a lively, old English-style bar called Mike's Place Pub. We cook up amazing steaks, pastas, seafood, the '100 Mile Burger', sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. We are also known for a legendary Sunday Brunch that goes from 11am - 2pm every Sunday. We are popular for our consistency, generous portions, food quality and reasonable prices all to be enjoyed in a character atmosphere that was built in 1898. There is no place like the Hume.
