This casual restaurant was just around the corner from our accommodations, so I glanced at their menu while walking our dog and decided to come back for dinner. Reservations are a good idea I think; we made one for 7pm Sunday night, and the restaurant seemed fairly busy when we got there and there was a short wait for our table. We shared a bucket of clams and mussels as appetizer, and each of us had cod and chips as our main. The clams and mussels were very nice, just a butter sauce I think; not at all chewy as we often experience, maybe because they were so fresh? Highly recommended. I made a bit of a mistake with my cod and chips; I chose to substitute ( for $2) a Caesar salad for my cole slaw, when if fact it was a substitute for my chips ( fresh cut, so I was hugely looking forward to them). All was well as it turned out, as my wife’s large portion of chips was enough for both of us, so I had the best of both worlds. A pint of local ale, and a marguerita ( both very reasonably priced) and we both went away very happy. I’d come back in a flash.

We took a drive from Parksville for something to do. Decided to check the restaurant out and I cannot say enough. The waitress was absolutely terrific and the food was delicious and very fresh and hot. We will be back and will be telling all of our friends. Well done.

We ate at the Clam Bucket on St. Patricks Day this year and the staff were festively dressed which was cute. Our food arrived piping hot, about 10 minutes after ordering and was delicious and very nicely presented. We will definitely visit again.

My wife called in a pick up order, the price was around $24.99 on the menu we had for an order of Oysters, the price is now $32.99, and to top it all off the order we placed was for 6 regular oysters , and not Cajun style as they gave us. They were placed in the Organic bin, they tasted awful, $71.00 for an order of 2, we will definitely not go back there, they made the price change on the phone, and when we asked why so much they told us that we had the old menu, we argued but decided to accept it as it was, then they served us the wrong order, we decided to not take it back as it would have just caused a ruckus in the restaurant. so price change, and wrong order, you decide. It was a pick up order.

We had a wonderful dinner at Clam Bucket. The service was friendly and the food was excellent. The Clam Chowder and Cod Fish and Chips 🍟 were very good but I really enjoyed the Build Your Own Platter for One. We ordered Calamari 🦑, Prawns 🍤 and Battered Cod 🐟. We look forward to returning one day with a larger party so we can order the Build Your Own Platter for Two. 😋

This large restaurant serves up well prepared food quickly and courteously. I had fish and chips and were nicely done. Batter was of the light variety which I appreciate. Cost was reasonable. It appeared to be very clean. I suspect it is a popular place with locals. Definitely worth a visit.

This is generally my favourite place when passing through Port Alberni. However we will not be back, today the food came quickly however the fries were so overcooked they were in edible. A fork could not penetrate them, so we didn’t eat them, and told the server when she came to remove the plates. Zero care or adjustment given at time of bill. OH, but we were told another table advised the fries were “just fine”. How does that account for our experience? Left hungry.

Not sure we would return. Extensive menu, cozy, rustic setting. Food was adequate but not worth waiting 50 minutes for two fish tacos and a bowl of chowder, on a day that didn’t seem very busy.

We enjoyed our late lunch here & service was very good. We had the clam chowder and shared the special of the day-fried cod/salmon/prawns & fries. Also had a phat raspberry drink that was excellent! Chowder was very good & the bread that came with it was excellent. The salmon/cod was good, but the star of the dish was the prawns! Delicious!

Shabby sports bar / pool hall ambience, not too clean, mixed crowd of hefty plus-size females and guys in ball caps – all raised on sugar – mill workers, farm hands, boat crew types with unruly kids getting up & running around – noisy rude diners out-yelling other tables - most gorging on cheap burgers-n-fries – that’s what it smelled like. Ear-splitting rap (not music) - so noisy the waitress – who took her sweet time - couldn’t hear us then conveniently mistook our appy orders for more expensive fare. Argued with us later – so no tip! Good seafood maybe – rowdy setting cheapened it all. We certainly didn’t fit in and won’t ever return.

We shared a burger and a seafood chowder and were both very full. The burger was really tasty and came with more fries than we could eat. The chowder was also good and very filling. We really appreciated a safe feeling. They appear to be taking the Covid protocols seriously.

After a hike through the MacLean Sawmill heritage site, my friend and I had a great lunch at the Clam Bucket. It Is named after a steam shovel digging bucket! But it serves great seafood as it is close to the West Coast of Vancouver Island. The chowder was hearty and silky, my oyster po boy was delish with a bit of bite back in the sauce. The bowl of chowder is huge, as is the plate of Calamari, tenderly fried.

Yummy! Got the platter for 1 for my husband and me with the mushroom cap appie. Enough good. Our son got breaded shrimp as an appie and 2 piece fish n chips. Thursday was 6 oz. wine only $4! Everything was fresh and delicious.

Menu needs a refresh with more modern seafood fare, blend of protein and carbs and less butter. Seafood platter was generous with a lot of food for two but mainly rice and deep fried popcorn shrimp. Roasted peppers and onions were limp, mussels and clams tiny. Fish, salmon between halibut ok. Decent place but a bit of a time warp.

Find the Clam Bucket if you happen to be in Port Alberni or just travelling through. Very good food and good service. We had Oysters Rockefeller and a bucket of clams and mussels. not dissapointed in the least. Great stuff. Most definitely would go back again.
