I have heard this is the "best fish & chips in town" and "people come from all over" to eat at Bare Bones. I live locally and finally decided to try out this restaurant and order over the phone for pick up. I ordered a two piece fish and chips (one piece Salmon and one piece Halibut) with the coleslaw... Great beer batter on the fish. Fries were spot on as well. It came with a choice of sauces that were all excellent. Only down was that coleslaw was not as good as I had hoped. They said it was homemade but if it was it was more like a bought in version that nice chunky homemade slaw. I'll go... More

They let you pick from cod, halibut and wild salmon. Then pick traditional batter, panko crust or grilled, then add chips, salad and pick you sauces. I had the lemon dill and the wasabi. The lemon dill was good, the wasabi was a bit mild for my taste, but was good. Really enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

Four of us had a late lunch at the establishment and decided to share the seafood combination platter. The large portion platter contained a very good portion of shrimp, halibut, salmon, and chips. There was more than enough and the seafood was very good. The service staff were excellent and the price was good for the amount of food provided.... More

Great location in a converted church. Food was okay, nothing inspiring, just average fish and chips. There are better places to grab lunch in Port Alberni.

Good food, good service and a neat restaurant made from an old church. Reasonable prices and right on main route going through.

Had to visit this restaurant again. We each had the Halibut and it was very tasty, a thick piece of fish and an unlimited supply of chips. Like the fact that they don't use too much batter so you can actually taste the fish. Will visit again.

The only place that I eat seafood because it is fresh. I like the option they give you when it comes to how you would like it cooked.(Battered, deep fried or grilled) We always order the platter which comes with a variety of seafood. It serves 2 generously. The only negative remark I have it in regards to their coleslaw. It... More

Bare Bones: an upscale fish and chip restaurant featuring west coast halibut, salmon, cod and prawns. Sides include hand-cut fries, caesar salad and coleslaw. Try your fish grilled or choose our famous beer batter or panco bread crumb coating. Always fresh and delicious! Look for our patio on Johnston.
