Had to visit this restaurant again. We each had the Halibut and it was very tasty, a thick piece of fish and an unlimited supply of chips. Like the fact that they don't use too much batter so you can actually taste the fish. Will visit again.

The only place that I eat seafood because it is fresh. I like the option they give you when it comes to how you would like it cooked.(Battered, deep fried or grilled) We always order the platter which comes with a variety of seafood. It serves 2 generously. The only negative remark I have it in regards to their coleslaw. It... More

Taking visitors touring Vancouver Island is not complete unless you go to Bare Bones in Port Alberni. It is located in a old church. They prepare fish in a number of ways and the Cole slaw is great. Prices are very reasonable.

This restaurant is located in an old church. It looks unique, it is very small and has that " old church smell " which we did not like it too much. The food itself was good (fish and chips) and fresh, the service was very fast.

Too much batter for me. The calamari and cod were heavily battered and could not taste much more than the batter. The halibut on the other hand was broiled and excellent - it saved the night.

Really solid fish and chips spot with good service and a unique listing of sides for your fish with 3 types of salad and three types of fish available three ways. This allows you a good opportunity to try a number of variations. Good service, reasonable prices and squeaky clean make this an excellent choice in Port Alberni.

This restaurant is housed in a landmark, little church building and is decorated with chic decor that expands on the Bare Bones logo. We ordered a $32 sampler platter which included Cod, Halibut, Salmon, & Prawns (each cooked in your choice of fire-grilled, panko-breaded, or english-battered) with fries, caesar salad & coleslaw, and 5 dipping sauces (seafood, tarter, thai-chili, lemon-dill,... We stopped here for a late lunch on our way to Tofino and were most pleasantly surprised. The Olde Yorke on Laird in Toronto serves very good fish and chips; what we got at Bare Bones was better. My wife and I shared an order of Panko-friend oysters, which were excellent. So was my grilled halibut with fries and a... More

Bare Bones has what I think is the best fish and chips in Port Alberni. Good selection of types of fish, including salmon, and options for how it's cooked. It's located in a neat old church, so pretty funky on the atmosphere. Only real down side is that it is a seafood place, so with the exception of some chicken... More
