The Nova Scotian Emporium & Fireside Tearoom is located in the heart of Truro's downtown shopping district. Its embossed tin ceilings, wainscoting and hardwood floors are original to the c.1890 building. While enjoying lunch or dessert, take in the excellent array of giftware, kitchen gadgets, bedding, baby products, and fine Nova Scotia products in the gift shop on the adjacent two floors. We have an onsite bakery and do special orders/catering for any occasion. The Tearoom features soups made daily, fresh salads, seafood chowder, frittatas, specials and 'almost sinful' desserts baked daily in our own oven. We take great pride in offering you the freshest ingredients in our menu selections. For the tea enthusiast, we offer 15+ blends of teas, including several herbals.

Soooooo Good!!!!

I can't say enough good things about he food here. It is quality food with a nice atmosphere. If you haven't tried the lobster sandwich here yet you MUST go ASAP. The tea room is suitable for all ages and stages. Their desserts are also to die for!

We were at the tea room recently, after a long absence, and won't be back for a long time again. None of the meals we have ever had have looked anything like the photo posted. Pretty basic; you order a sandwich and that's what you get - two pieces of bread with something in the middle. Nothing else on the... More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch - he got a salmon sandwich, I got a quiche with salad. Sure, it was fine, but we were expecting a little more food for what we paid and the service was slow. It got good reviews here and on Yelp so we were surprised that we weren't terribly struck by the... More

Wow what a wonderful surprise. We got a recommendation for the tea house while on the way to Halifax airport. Most people come here for a pie and cake and tea but lunch was surprisingly delicious as well. We wanted something light. We had the spinach feta quiches, and some salads. And- the amazing lobster sandwich. We also loved the... More

Sandwiches are to die for!!! Extremely tasty and fresh. Lots to see in the store as well. Prices are a little high, but so worth it.

This little restaurant, tucked away inside the Nova Scotia Emporium, is one of my most favourite spots to take friends, or new visitors to Truro. I've eaten lunch here many times, but most often I go for the desserts. Even if I've eaten a meal somewhere else, I'll suggest we head to the Fireside for something special and sweet. Everything...
