We have been visiting the Norseman restaurant, (now known as the Lakeside Bistro) several times each year for the past decade and it just keeps getting better. Overlooking Walker's Lake a few kilometers east of Huntsville on Limberlost Rd. it's ambiance in the summer and fall overlooking the lake from a screened-in porch is refreshing. In the fall and winter,... More

Old fashioned dining room in need of refreshing. No cheerful welcome or friendly service. Extensive menu and nice presentation, but all four in our party were unimpressed with our four different entrees. Do not let this picture fool you. Black tablecloths inside, no cloths outside. No extras, like a candle or flower on the table. Zero ambience!

We started with sharing a shrimp bruschetta which was very tasty. Wifey had pickerel and I had the ribs. Fries with the ribs were very good. Not so good was the corn on the cob which was tasteless. The ribs were okay. The pickerel was well cooked with a very nice aioli. The baclava was not the best we ever... More

We found this place via trip advisor, and chose to have dinner here after a long day of hiking in Algonquin Park. The meal was incredible. Best smoked ribs I've ever had, and my girlfriend loved her dinner as well. The manager and chef coming out to chat with us was also a nice surprise, and added a personal touch.... More

The restaurant was recommended in our guidebook so we went there on a weekly evening. It was quiet so no trouble getting a table at the outside terrace. The service was good and friendly. The food was very tasteful. But most of all, it is a magical place. Close by the lake, very quiet and peaceful. I made one mistake:... More

It was an absolute treat to experience this wonderful restaurant with my entire family. I am a picky eater and thoroughly enjoyed the beautifully seasoned, fresh dishes and diverse menu. Portions are generous. I started with the grilled shrimp bruschetta, then sailed thru the main entire consisting of smoked back ribs & ended with a delirious peach breading pudding that... More

My second visit here since last summer.....lovely location. You can eat in a screened in dining area with a view of the lake. Dinner is expensive (but delicious!)....good for a special occasion! Service is friendly. Too bad the view includes the parking lot! After dinner, make sure to walk down to the dock and lake.

We discovered this place years ago mainly because I have a "thing" for anything remotely related to Vikings. Now we make it a point to dine here whenever we are within an hour's drive. What a wonderful place this is! It's a beautiful treed setting on a lake. We sat on the porch on a perfect July evening. Dear Husband... More

My wife and I decided to enjoy our Anniversary dinner at the Norsemen, we could have been more impressed. We sat outside and looked out over the lake, it was a beautiful night. Our waitress went into the kitchen with questions my wife had. I had the Bison and Beet salad and the Roast Wild Boar, both were excellent and... More

The Norsemen Restaurant is Muskoka's ultimate Bistro, with casual dining and "Old Muskoka" charm. Treat yourself to outstanding game, seafood and steak or try our Summer Monday Bistro menu with gourmet pizzas, wings and ribs. The Norsemen has a reputation for great food and great times.Whether nibbling before a stone fireplace in the dining room or out on the screened-in porch, delight in a diverse menu beginning with appetite-enhancers like Garlic Shrimp Bruschetta or a Smoked Trout Caesar Salad. Inhale the savoury Venison Schnitzel, perfectly cooked Beef Tenderloin, Australian Barrumundi or Smoked Lamb Shank, considered relaxation-enhancing substances in six provinces. Stretch the languorous evening further by swaddling appetites in decadent desserts like our Rich Flourless Chocolate Cake, or Almond Friand which performs its tongue ballet in tandem with lemon curd and drizzled with a sour blueberry coulis. Finish off perfectly with a cappuccino encore.(Please note the chefs changes the menu whenever he feels like it, so some items mentioned may not be available all the time)
