Having flown over the sound, we crossed the road to this Cafe. We were given a great welcome, the food was excellent, buffalo wings, steak cooked perfectly, fish and chips, followed by Key Lime Pie, and Ice cream to follow. More of a restaurant than...More

We visited the Bay Street this past weekend after swearing off it about 4 years ago. Our waitress was obviously new and it wasn't her fault that she wasn't trained. She took our wine order and then five minutes later reappeared with "What wine was...More

I ordered a starter Caesar salad with lasagna as my main. I got my salad with my lasagna and the server looked at me and said "sorry". Worst Caesar salad ever. Big chunks of romaine, no roasted garlic, no bacon and yes"you won't believe this...More

I stopped at this restaurant because it has a nice view of the harbour. The service was ok, but the Caesar salad was just lettuce, croutons and very little dressing. When I asked if there was supposed to bacon bits, onions and cheese, they said...More

Fantastic location, and a great verandah (which means a roof and blinds to keep out the rain) to have a drink and a snack and watch the boats. Food is OK, nachos and apps OK if you just want something to soak up the beer...More

Wow the service was so bad - the waitress never brought my drink despite being reminded, and even though our friends arrived before us and ordered our food we had to wait 10 minutes to get the waitress' attention and another 10 minutes before she...More

Very attractive seafood restaurant just down Bay Street from our bed and breakfast. Seeing as it was Thanksgiving weekend and we showed up at 8pm we had the place practically to ourselves. The food was excellent and so was our friendly efficient waiter. It was...More

There were flies everywhere...we should have left. I had the French onion soup. Good. Others had the chowder...and had stomach issues later. Our server was abysmal. No spunk. No personality... Oh well, not again.

We came there for a lunch on a sunny day. The location is quite nice, watching activity on the water either from the terrace or from inside at a window place. The food was simple but adequate, but the place looks a bit shabby.

Wife and I had lunch there. Selection is very good and what we ordered was very good. Staff was friendly and you're near the water.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
How can Bay Street Cafe ( A Seasonal Restaurant - operates for a 6 month period only), get a negative review on April 20th 2016, when it only opened for this season on April 29th 2016? As it was also advertised in the local Newspaper again this year (as it has been done in each of the previous years) The restaurant opens towards the last weekend in April and closes During the Thanksgiving Weekend. Same time that the 30,000 Island Queen Cruise Ship stops running for it's season. As it always has, (20 + years), since they first bought it from the previous owners. Also did you ask to talk to the owners? There is always at least 1 person onsite at all times. You just have to ask to speak with them. If they are not already downstairs at that time, then they are working in the office upstairs. I am not an owner nor a worker there (I have no vested interest) but I am an immediate family member. But I can guarantee you that, They are (as they always have tried to be) committed to providing quality food and service. If you have a problem with the food or service, then ask for them at that time so they can help deal with it right then. They can also address it and keep on top of it, so that it won't happen again. Even when Trying to constantly prevent/keep on top of everything, certain situations unfortunately can still arise. However, they can't address/correct any situation unless people actually Talk (Not Text) to them. Please do not assume that they will arbitrarily find any online site and see/read the reviews posted, & then somehow correct/address any concerns in regards to the restaurant. The same can be said, with thinking that someone else will tell them. 2 of the 3 co-owners are quite elderly and don't know how use computers. They are not the majority owners. They do care about the customers, and their opinions on the restaurant and food. During the 6 months the restaurant is closed for the season, they ensure that they have all the equipment pulled out, so that the entire place can be thoroughly & totally cleaned from top to bottom and behind everything. The floors get sanded and redone, and everything (inside and out) gets a fresh coat of paint. They then get the service people to check the equipment operation and repair anything if it requires it. Lastly everything is thoroughly washed and cleaned before the new season begins. Would anyone spend their winners doing all that if they did not care about their customers and their dining experience? They also carefully select what type of food, cuts, quality and where they purchase it from every year. If they wouldn't purchase it for themselves, they won't purchase it for the customers that come to dine at the restaurant. That is exactly how they think and feel when dealing & purchasing anything from any of their suppliers. I can assure anyone that they really do care. They are now open for this season. Spring & Fall Hours 11 am - 9 pm Summer Hours (July & August) 11 am - 11pm Thank You for taking the time and consideration for reading this. I hope everyone has a great day! Sincerely, SD
