Excellent food

This is the 2nd time that I have been to this pub. Great atmosphere. I had the Thai Noodles Veg, coconut curry, Sambal, vermicelli noodles with tiger prawns $13.69. VERY nicely done. Spicy but not over kill. Highly recommend this dish.

On a recent trip back to where I grew up in the 60's, I stopped in for lunch at the Black Bear Pub. I'm pretty sure it hadn't been there when I lived on the North Shore, but it felt like I'd been there before. The rustic, welcoming decor, friendly staff, warm fire, and great food made for a wonderful... More

Met a friend here for lunch over the holidays and all was good. Food fresh and plentiful. Good variety to the menu and specials are good value. Soup (Cream of mushroom - home made); bruschetta tasty and my fish and chips light and not greasy. Will go back.

We popped in on an evening when the Canucks game was on and the place was hopping (we didn't go in for the game, just hoping for some dinner). Glad we hunted for a table. Despite the busyness, we got acknowledged right away and drink orders were taken. The staff was running to cover everyone, then when we ordered the... More

My friends and I frequently come to the black bear after a trail run. We love the food (best garlic cheese bread in town!), the service is great, and it has a comfortable community feeling. I also love that they have blankets available, since I'm often freezing after a run. :)

I love the Bear. It’s like my second living room. We’re there almost every week — always in the mid or late afternoon, when we can score our favourite table and enjoy some relaxing conversation. The daily soup is always spectacular; so is the salmon burger on multigrain bun. They’ve recently added a hummus and pita appy, which is surprisingly... More

Good basic pub, nothing fancy. Nice selection of beers and food, friendly service. Burger was generously-sized, extensive selection of sides, and the tomato-basil soup-of-the-day was fabulous!

I so wish this place had good food, but I have been back a few times and am continuously underhwelmed, in quality, value and taste. There is no reason to have such mediocre pub food when other pubs are banging it out of the park. The only thing that keeps this place afloat is the captive audience in Lynn Valley... More

Although I've never eaten here the food looks really good, however I've certainly had a few beers in The Black Bear. A lively pub and a very friendly place to spend an evening drinking with friends. A Good selection of beers at reasonable prices.

I came here for a late night bite with a friend who lives in North Vancouver. I was immediately struck by the relaxed & friendly atmosphere. The pub appeared to be very spacious yet cozy at the same time. Then again, it was a week night & not very crowded. I had the Thai Chicken with gourmet greens, tomato, shredded... More
