I cannot begin to explain enough as to how much we enjoyed our evening here. From the moment you walk through the old, heavy wood door and enter the pub area where the large fireplace and comfy sofas sit, you know you are going to enjoy. The staff are wonderfully friendly and beyond helpful, always ready to give advice and... More

Had a one night stop off on the way to Pembrokeshire. Pleasant rooms but no TV nor wifi - the Roberts radio was most welcome. The bar and restaurant are spot on in terms of food and drink. Relaxed but efficient and every course was delicious. Being a pub it is casual and the drinks including wine are priced accordingly.... More

This was booked as a prelude to walking. It was a pleasure to find such good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Service was good and the food excellent. Main course portion size is big, but starter and dessert were not excessively large so a well proportioned meal. The drinks list is very good too and there is plenty of good... More

Family party for 5, some of us with specific dietary requests, handled with care and attention by warm staff. Hearty food enjoyed by all of us, with nothing too much trouble. A very reliable place to visit.

We went to the Griffin for Sunday Lunch to celebrate a family birthday whilst staying locally. Considering the large size of our group the food arrived very quickly and was of the highest standard. The starters and Sunday roasts were all delicious and the desserts were amazing. The gooseberry and apple crumble was the best crumble I've ever had! The... More

I can not explain how good the chef is. I have eaten here 3 times now, and would recommend it to any person who appreciates good food. The house wine is very good and they have some nice ales also.

Came here after experiencing the sister Gurnard's Head and loved it even more. Food was creative and tasty. Staff on the ball. Bar was relaxed. And it's only 10 minutes from Brecon.

We have eaten and stayed here many times over the years and it has always been a pleasure. However when we visited recently there seemed to have been some staff changes both front of house and in the kitchen. All the staff were as polite as always, but the standard of service, menu and food was disappointing. We ate twice... More

I'm really sorry to hear you were underwhelmed by your recent lunch or supper with us. It's difficult to comment without detail so all I would say is we've been working for 16 years to keep our standards going up and up and we keep trying to do so. Generally, our guests' response to us in the past 6 months... More

Enjoyed excellent food with beautifully cooked fish and fresh vegetables from the garden. Dishes so tasty with such a range of ingredients. Excellent friendly and professional service from young staff made our stay such a treat. So enjoyed sister hotel Gurnards Head near Lands End,great formula- comfortable rooms, no tv, high quality food.

The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal.

The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.
