We have eaten and stayed here many times over the years and it has always been a pleasure. However when we visited recently there seemed to have been some staff changes both front of house and in the kitchen. All the staff were as polite as always, but the standard of service, menu and food was disappointing. We ate twice... More

Enjoyed excellent food with beautifully cooked fish and fresh vegetables from the garden. Dishes so tasty with such a range of ingredients. Excellent friendly and professional service from young staff made our stay such a treat. So enjoyed sister hotel Gurnards Head near Lands End,great formula- comfortable rooms, no tv, high quality food.

I had all meals at the Felin Fach Griffin and that's also the reason I chose to stay there. Excellent food in terms of ingredients, cooking method and services. I highly recommend those who look for good food in Wales to try this. :-)

The Griffin has a very good reputation so much so that we stayed overnight for our wedding anniversary 3 years ago, and enjoyed the experience. Not been back since as it's a bit too far from home, but as we were in the area we booked a table with friends as an early birthday celebration for me. I have to... More

Decided to call here for lunch as in the area. Hadn't booked but as we were early, it opens at 12, we had no problem being seated. We could have sat in the very comfortable lounge area but decided to go to our table. The building has been renovated to a very high standard and the decor is sympathetic to... More

Had a lovely meal here, food very nicely done but is very much style over quantity! Beautifully presented but small portions for the price and the menu tells you exactly what you get on your plate, I had duck and it was literally duck, you have to order veg or potatoes etc as a side order which were about £4... Return visit. Food was once again absolutely delicious. £25 three courses well worth every penny. My only niggle on this occasion was that we had to wait longer than norm for main. We were in no rush as on holiday but there does come a length of time when it becomes slightly uncomfortable. We were in bar with dog and... More

We booked a table where we were allowed to bring our dog with us. Staff were really friendly and even brought out a bowl of water for the dog alongside our drinks. Great menu with some unusual combinations. Quality of ingredients and cooking were first class. A most enjoyable meal, more gastropub than pub albeit at restaurant prices.

I visited this Father's Day with my family and it's the best meal any of us had had in a long time! The waiting staff we're super attentive and happy to help explain the menu. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were just right! All in all it was one of the best experiences I have had eating... More

Found this beautiful pub/restaurant after some internet research and I'm so pleased we went. This was as fine a pub meal as I've ever had. Great menu, superb food beautifully presented. I think it would be fair to say that it was not really pub fare but excellent restaurant food. The service was excellent for a pub but with a... More

The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal.

The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.
