Was in Tahoe recently and decided to look for sushi. Found Off the Hook by chance and it turned out to be excellent. Relatively small place with knowledgeable and very friendly staff. Menu had a variety of rolls and other options, all of which were...reasonably priced. The sashimi plate was excellent with generous pieces of very good quality fish.More

This restaurant actually refuses to go orders. They say because their customers who eat there are more important. This came from the manager. Eat at Samurai Sushi or Sushi Pier!!!!!

Great food and services! The Salmon dish is highly recommended. Use Yelp to check in when you place order. You may have surprise!

High quality fish, great menu options and specials. Definitely sit at the bar and have some fun chatting with the sushi chefs! We love this place and have been twice now. We will come back every time we are in Tahoe!!

Went on a Tuesday night. Place got really full at around 7pm. Insane happy hour from 4:30 to 6pm. Service was really good and a five star. Food was only 3 star so giving a 4 star rating. Ingredients all seemed to be of good...quality however the hot items were not served that hot (bowl of rice was barely warm, miso soup was like warm and fried tofu was almost room temperature and hot saki was not that hot. Highlights were the salmon and yellowtail sashimi, tuna hand rolls, spinach salad. Reasonably priced at $140 with tip for five of us including Five appetizers, two sashimis, 2 hand rolls, one cut roll and lots of drinks. Check in with a yelp and get a free hot saki.More

Our family loves sushi ; having lived in Japan , we normally don’t eat sushi anywhere else but Japan but this place had US/ CA style sushi’s and authentic ones. Truly makes this place a must go if you are into raw fish. Ofcourse other...options are available but we stuck to authentic ones and it was delicious ( fish part, not the rice part ). Having authentic high quality Japanese rice will make it a 5- star place.More

This far inland I wasn’t sure what to expect but with a packed parking lot as our guide we chose Sushi for dinner. And we made it just ahead of the late dinner rush. It’s small inside but service was quick and friendly. Kate was...attentive and responsive to our requests. The menu was fantastic. Regardless of if your preference is raw, tempura, or Udon magic this place did not disappoint. Definitely worth a repeat visit. Word of warning—I skipped lunch and was starving but the Udon soup bowls are humongous! And loaded with goodies.More

Went to Off The Hook during Happy Hour (4:30 to 6PM, M-F) where the prices are little cheaper but the quality and quantity of food is the same. This restaurant is right off Hwy50 in a small strip mall. There is usually plenty of parking...and the restaurant is large enough to accommodate a large crowd but it is a popular place so if you get there late, there is usually a wait. About the food. I usually stay away from sushi restaurants in SLT because we are several hours away from any sources of truly fresh fish. But Off The Hook does manage to create some unique dishes with sushi and it does still very fresh. Their standard happy hour menu is limited so I would recommend ordering off both the happy hour menu and the regular menu to get the best variety and flavors. We have been here 3 times and the food has always been very good. They have managed to become a little more creative in providing traditional Japanese with more spice, flavor, personality and interest. I won't say it is fusion because there is little pretension in the food. It is just good sushi prepared in a way that gives the customer a wider flavor offering. I would recommend this restaurant as I think it is the best sushi place in SLT. In fact, I believe that it can hold its own against the sushi places in the SF Bay Area. I definitely will be back again and this has become one of our favorites in SLTMore

We went for the Sushi. And It was great. I would have liked more variety in the their sushi (with different kinds of meat). But all in all... a great sushi experience.

We went here 2 couples and 2 kids. We were hungry but ordered way more than we could eat. When we found out we couldn’t take it home, my husband ate 20+ pieces of sushi himself. He was full for 2 days. Everything was fresh,...the rolls were the perfect bite size. We really liked this place. Past the casinos at state line right by Kingsbury Drive. Check it out! It’s fantastic.More
