The food was just ok. Meat was tough and sitting in too much liquid. Service was good, but staff needs to slow down their speech and not talk so fast. Very expensive. Probably will not return.

We chose Evan's for a special family celebration because the menu sounded good and some of the reviews were good...WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I had incredibly dried out halibut, dry and tasteless potatoes, and undercooked veggies. The server spent lots of time apologizing. My entrée was $40+.

Evan's Gourmet American Cafe is an outstanding restaurant in S. Lake Tahoe. Booking in advance (well in advance if you are planning on dining on a Friday or Saturday evening) is a must as the remodeled cabin based dining room accommodates a limited number of tables. The food is outstanding! Both inventive and delicious, the freshly prepared menu is presented... More

The halibut dinner was okay - not terrific and not worth the price. The grilled water melon tomatoe salad, however, was fabulous.

Don't hesitate to try the savory cheesecake appetizer. Just yummy. I usually order fish or beef when I go out but this time I ordered the pork chop. It was beautifully prepared and delicious.

Go here for a special evening. Service is very professional. Food is excellent. Wine list great. Very small interior and just a few tables.

Loved our visit to Evan's. Delicious specials and something for everyone on the menu. I was content with a salad and a small-plate pasta portion. Super scallops.

Second time visiting from Florida and we had to go back to Evans. The meat and seafood dishes are outstanding. The service and attention to detail are second to none. Try to save room for dessert, gorgeous to look at and even better to eat!

So we had a great meal and a beautiful bottle of wine. Up until then we thought this was the best experience on our holiday. We were still nursing our bottle of wine after our main courses and said we wouldn't have any desert (we were stuffed!) - without even noticing that we were still going with our wine ...... More
