Ordered 2 Hamburgers “Well Done” waitress said she would make sure they were cooked with no pink. Got back to Hotel room and Burgers were just browned, completely Raw. For a Restaurant that serves Steaks, this was very disappointing. Will never Return, no response back...from management.More

Visited here 5 years ago and we loved The Max. It is attached to The Mirabeau Hotel. There is a nice selection of entrees in the $20-30 range. Service was prompt and the food was great. We also had breakfast here the next morning. It...was a buffet setup, with several choices. The dishes were somewhat cold and the food was a bit disappointing.More

I stopped in to eat at Max's after a flight from California. I have been to Spokane Valley Numerous times over the years, and always wanted to check Max's out. Finally, I had the chance to as my flight got in earlier in the afternoon....I went there just a touch before 5:00 pm on a Saturday and got a seat right away. I had looked at the menu previous to my visit and know that I was going to order the Steams Manilla Clams. I started off with the soup of the day, which was a cold soup almost like gazpacho. The soup was on the light side and was a perfect starter. Max's meals come with freshly baked bread which I used to sop up that delightful last bits of soup. The Clams were served in a white wine broth, and came with two giant pieces of cheese topped crostini. The portion was much larger than I expected and although the clams are on the appetizer menu the portion size is almost a dinner entre size. The meal was fantastic and so was the service. I finally made it to Max's and do expect to return when I'm back in the area.More

I had my first bad experience here 2 days ago and it was pretty bad. Went for lunch with my mom, we’ve been here many times and always enjoyed it. I ordered the Cobb salad without cheese (a sensitivity) and it came with cheese. Ok,...no big deal, I picked it off. I had eaten most of the chicken on the salad, but the last couple of pieces were almost raw. I didn’t notice that until I put a bite into my mouth and the texture made me think I had bitten into a fatty piece. I spit it into a tissue without looking at it. Then I noticed the last piece in the bowl was quite pink and undercooked. So I alerted the server, she asked me if I wanted more chicken and I said no, but I thought they should know about it. So she took my dish into the kitchen, came back out and saying nothing else, slid the check into the table for the full amount of the meal and disappeared. There was no apology or explanation or anything. Someone in the kitchen sliced that chicken before serving it to me, how did they not notice part of it was almost raw? Did they use that same knife to cut someone else’s food next? So far, I haven’t become sick, but it was a very distressing experience and they didn’t seem to care. It’s such a shame, we have always liked this restaurant.More

This place is always a favorite for us to gather. Not only is the ambiance pleasant, but the staff is always top tier. Their food never disappoints, but their cocktails are where it is at! Hands down best espresso martini in town.

My family has consistently had the Christmas buffet the past few years. It never disappoints, the prime rib and ham were done perfectly and the sides and deserts were delicious. The service was personal and friendly and we always leave full. Their regular menu I...think may even be better, great steaks.More

We went to this place few times to dine in and it was ok. Their dishes are hit or miss usually. This time I decided to do a carry out after work. I ordered their blue cheese burger with mushrooms and seared ahi tuna salad....So I picked up my food and went home. When I got home and opened box with burger I found that it was their regular one with cheese and bacon, not the one that I asked for. I don’t usually complain about mistakes like this, not to mention I don’t feel like driving back after work to get what I actually asked for. So I was like ok, not a big deal. Then I opened box with tuna and found canned tuna sandwich instead of seared ahi salad. At this point I decided to call and respectfully complain. Girl on the phone said they can fix it. So I drove back to get that salad. After confirming that box contains what I wanted I was about to leave, but then I was told that they need to “check me out”. Seriously, you made me drive back and pay for your mistake? Than she said that they can give me a discount, once manager approves it. Really????? I don’t need no discounts on $20 dish!!! You screwed up both of my meals, I complained only about one and they made me pay for it. Money is not even an issue here. What a joke this place is!!! Horrible service!!! I had this happen before in other places and no one ever asked me to pay for their own errors. Not to mention that tuna salad was horrible. We love seared tuna and always order it when we see it on the menu (especially on Hawaii trips). We had few tuna dishes in this place and they all tasted really bad, seasoning and sides. Typically I don’t comlain if I don’t like the dish, but this time I decided to mention it too. So get your tuna elsewhere. Not to mention horrible service!!!More

We've never stayed at the hotel but have eaten at the Max for different occasions and it has been a dependable choice for their selection of good food and excellent service. For this lunch we had the trout on a bed of spinach and cheesecake...which were both very good, and the french dip which was wonderful. Not exactly a quiet spot for a bite, and no views here, but a pleasant alternative to ubiquitous pub-style dining. There's also a tempting buffet for those who observe.More

Went for an early dinner 2 days ago. Server was rushed and looked overcommitted but took time to come to our table pretty quickly and let us know she would be a few minutes - nice touch and I have sat ignored musch longer at...other very nice restaurants; her service after was exemplary. Clam chowder was very tasty but only lukewarm. My fish and chips was great, but my wife's hamburger was not as good as elsewhere (she ate 1/3 and finished my fish). Price about average for this type of restaurant. We will be back to try other menu items.More

I went to the restaurant twice. The food is good and the service is friendly. I especially liked the server, Jennifer. The place needs a total renovation badly. The atmosphere is very dark. That's why I rated it average. I would recommend the restaurant.
