My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Source restaurant and it did not disappoint. The staff were attentive and the food was good. I would recommend the quail and rum and raisin soufflé as a must have. The extensive wine list will cater for the amateur as well as the experienced wine lover. As a added bonus, the... More

We had breakfast here which was included in our overnight accommodation package at MONA. It is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant. Beautiful furnishings, professional staff and a lovely refined atmosphere - great views too. We had Fruit platter - beautiful...mango, blue berries, raspberries, pineapple all drizzled in passion fruit yummo! Goats cheese omelette - divine Smoked salmon scrambled eggs - to... More

Nice view, very good service, extraordinary (over the top?) wine list ($46,000 for a 1961 Petrus), but not sure about the food. You can order multiple courses for a set price, eg $49 for 2, $69 for 3 etc. We were taking the ferry backbone town so only had time for 2. Small, intricate, complicated but unsatisfying dishes. I think... More

We had lunch during our visit to MONA. We had the three course option and the food was of the finest quality and technique. An expensive lunch but an exceptional dining experience.

This is an excellent, and hospitable high-class dining facility. Food is outstanding: expert and imaginative composition and preparation achieving excellent flavors. The staff is friendly, helpful and competent. Tasmanian cuisine at its best.

The food was top end, but very expensive, and the wine list was extensive but also very expensive. The staff are attentive but needed to be reminded about our requests. It had all of the elements of a great meal, and yet not quite right

Had the worse lunch experience that I have ever had. My meal of Wagyu beef was tasteless and the desert of apple cannoli was sickly. My wife who has never to my knowledge ever criticised food to a waiter actually told the waitress that her "Italian Salad" was tasteless and dreadful, the waitress said she would tell the Chef. Frozen Parsley... More

Beautiful room but the food is pretentious, fussy and not especially good. The service is well intentioned but not terribly competent. The wine list is the longest I have ever seen - I would have preferred to see a shorter choice of well edited AustralIan wines and especially Tasmaian wines, many of which are outstanding but never leave the island... The service was excellent as too the surrounds. The food was a style of nouveau cuisine that lacked a certain high note, but the experience all over was excellent and well intended.

Restaurant get into a bubble when the smoke their own weed. From last year when the riverside restaurant was a great a la carter dining experience to now is dismal. The staff were haughty at reception yet at the menu barely could explain the offerings. The menu is now so obscure that I think only those 'in the know' or... More

The Source Restaurant takes its name from the John Olsen painting that hangs in the ceiling of the foyer. Its focus is on local seasonal produce, presented according to the whim of Vince Trim (ha), our Executive Chef, and his team. Shared plates, fresh, uncomplicated food, and a lovely outlook over the museum grounds. À la carte breakfast and lunch, Wednesday - Monday. À la carte dinner, Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm.
