My wife and I needed a stop on the way to a family wedding, and booked into the White Horse after a random find on the internet. I must say we found it very welcoming and we had an enjoyable night. The dinner we had in the restaurant was delightful. My aged rib-eye steak was superb. Correctly cooked to my... More

We looked out for the White Horse having visited a couple of years ago. The menu is varied and service efficient & friendly. With so many pubs no longer open it is good to find one which is an ideal stopping place on the A303.

We stayed here on the Saturday night ahead of a visit to the Hawk conservancy the next day. We also prebooked dinner as I thought they might be busy on a Saturday night. We were looking forward to the Burgers I had seen on the websites menu, but were told on arrival there were no burgers that night. We both... More

Drawn in by he sandwich board man on the 303, decided to give it a try, big mistake, went in, 6/7 people dotted about and a few in the garden. Ordered a drink, someone else was ordering a sandwich at the time, one on white one on brown, the girl had to confirm twice, it was as if she had... More

Visited ahead of going to Thruxton circuit. We had lunch in the garden which seemed quieter than expected(this beautiful thatched pub being sited next to the A303) . The main courses were particularly good and worth the visit alone.

Pulled in by a small sign I was delighted with the whole experience. Super food , a cold beer and nice staff Result Why would you stop at a service area when little gems like this exist

It's a shame to have to be so scathing, but there were no good points about our visit. We had planned to stop here as it was exactly half way on our journey to Dorset. The pub itself looked promising - a really nice character property. That's where it ended. There was a long wait at the bar to order... More

Hello, first of all i'd like to apologise that you didn't have an enjoyable experience at the pub when you visited. Though you may not have agreed, we did have a very busy lunch service on Friday, let me assure you. We do try and stagger the orders so that the kitchen is not completely inundated with meals to prepare,... More

No No No, the fish came out over cooked, when it came which was very late after ordering, the batter was hard I could not cut it, the same for the chips!!! Give it a miss, the sweet well I... More

Hello Laurie, thanks for taking the time to write a review. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your fish and chips. We do have a very good reputation for this dish and it doesn't sound like what you had met up to our standards. Apologies for this. Please bare in mind that had you mentioned this at the time, we...
